China - Impressions.

I was there in 2015. Flew from Hong Kong to Shanghai and then a train to Beijing. Even in beautiful modern train stations and airports they find a way to shit on the floor. They'll get there eventually and I had an amazing time, just didn't appreciate getting spat on.
If these things did happen rest assured it is nothing like that now.

Not sure it's nothing like that now. I think it's a generational thing. The old folk have grown up where things like that are normal and it's hard to change. Youngsters are more "western" in their habits.

Still have the occasional Chinese tourist shit in the street here in Thailand. Much to the disgust of the locals. Not surprisingly.

I'm almost at the end of a 3 month visit here and have found the people friendly, welcoming, helpful and curious about me. There also appears to be little crime and the police presence is low key as long as you follow the laws.

I wondered if any others on the forum have visited/worked here and what their thoughts are about the country?
Never been, but every country I have visited the people seem just like us, it is the politics and democracy or lack of that creates division.
