Chinese chippy curry sauce.

back in the "olden days" I used to go out with a girl who's dad owned a chippy in Timperley. When I went to poly, he gave me a catering sized bag of the stuff (dry powder) that kept me going for years. Even had the died peas in it (and probably loads of MSG!)

Search "catering supplies chinese (or chip shop) curry sauce" - bob's your uncle. There must be someone in your neck of the woods that will deliver.

Someone above mentioned japanese katsu sauce. You can make this with Bisto granules, some curry paste (they recommend korma, though I prefer something a bit more tasty) tomato ketchup and either honey or maple syrup.

Anyone got a recipe for anything that vaguely resembles the delicious, mouthwatering but very unavailable delicacy mentioned in the thread title? We've been out in Perth nine years now and the only decent sauce we've had was the occasional box of paste ordered from wing yip warehouse and brought over by visitors to our house.
The craving is getting really serious now and no recipes have hit the mark so far.
Cheers
I feel your pain. Surrounded by food from the 4 corners of the earth and can't get fish, chips and curry sauce :-(

My missus's mum gets this stuff from Morrison's .... comes in a powder form, does taste exactly like chippy curry sauce .... Maybe get online, or get mates to mail some over ...?
