Shouldn't we be taking renewable energy more seriously? Nobody wants to live near a nuclear powerplant and hopefully there will come a day where nobody has to.Correct we do not have the skills to complete the work ourselves. But as a backdrop to this the project itself is a loss leader the reason why no one will touch it is that its a white elephant. EDF already run the risk of losing share value when they start building this. The only reason the Chinese want to invest in this so that they can build the next white elephant we have planned and showcase their talents in building nuclear plants.
Funnily enough the German's have shut down 6 nuclear power stations immediately after the Fukashima tragedy and the plan to shut down the rest before we Hinckly is finished focusing more on renewables which they see as the future. To put into an analogy as was quoted by a Green Party MP yesterday Osborne is putting all his money on a nag running backwards.
Was just reading that there was a day this year where Germany were able to get 78% of it's power from renewable sources, we've had some of the best Scientists around in this country, surely we can be doing better than we are at the moment on the renewable energy front?
