After his runaway success as Transport Secretary and the timetable fiasco ( which rumbles on ) and his party political bias when in office -

It's more than just one bad apple, the Tory Party are nothing more than gangsters, once you accept that, then keeping things in the family is perfectly understandable.

He has always astounded me. Comes across as lame and inept. I was surprised to learnt that he is a privy councillor. That must explain how he endures in govt, seems to be a grey company man who is a keeper of the states secrets and a member of the inner circle.
 
so wedded to the concept of privatisation above all else that he either overlooks a piss poor contract OR is just incapable of understanding a good or bad contract when he is shown one.
 
I was watching him yesterday on the Transport Select committee. Tories now admit that

  • the train service is too fragmented
  • Not one individual is in charge (yes he actually said that )
  • Wants Rail track to get closer to the franchises so they don't have to keep paying them compensation when things aren't delivered on time
  • Suggests that getting Railtrack to sign off on the Franchisees business plan ..... might be a good idea (LOL)
  • he will come up with a new partnership plan in the near future
  • He will allow Virgin to apply for new franchises despite them walking away from the East Coast trail line
  • Still believes the future of the railways is better in private hands (we subsidised them to the tune of £1 billion a year when it was British Rail now its £9 billion.


All in all it was an abject performance , no sense of responsibility for the current chaos.

Can anyone tell me why Failing Grayling is still in a job?
 
He does exactly what they want him to do. His job isn't to create a successful rail network, his job is to bleed the network of all profit for his party and it's cronies.

Same with (c)Hunt when he headed up the Health Service. You don't get a promotion for 8 years of failure, we just never really cotton onto what their objectives are.
 
Northern Rail still a complete bollocks of a service. Burnham - I know not loved by all - has written to the PM today after Grayling has done the square root of jack shit about it. May is on holiday and Grayling - who promised that Northern Rail was now his top priority back in June is nowhere to be seen and his top priority appears to be left floundering. Its an absolute fucking joke no wonder foreign companies like to run our rail companies - no matter how badly they will do it the still rake it in a nobody does fuck all !!

He's a **** who scared of confrontation and speaks like he's reading a script. Had a welcoming committee greet him a few months ago when he came to my workplace to promote "The East Midlands Engine".He tried to avoid the committee by walking out side the station, around the car park to get on his train back to London. Didn't work as we had union members at all exits. He looked like he shit himself and scuttled into the first class carriage.

An asset stripper who refuses to take responsibility for anything. His department runs more of the railway than BR did by stealth, yet he refuses to accept any blame for fuck ups. He's happy to give Northern and other companies millions in tax payers money NOT to run services. Hence Northern not arsed attitude in restoring services.
