Diversity of backgrounds? Or are we going to pretend that mainstream tabloid journalism is a complete meritocracy?

Who gives a rats arse about the diversity of backgrounds in late 1990s/early 2000s British crayoning outside the lines target audience journalism? You’ve got to be one hell of a twat to think that’s important to point out.

I doubt very much the Voice was critical of Meghan and had smear campaigns against her.

I also doubt it, I didn't realise it was about Meghan Markle either but to do with 'white' editors getting beyond flaccid with teenage girls.

I remember when I was 18/19yo and the Daily Sport counting down the days to show the tits of a young girl called Linsey Dawn Mackenzie, who had very large tits but I don't think she minded tbh.

It always pissed me off he came on the Radio after Mark and Lard, the radio went off and the Sony Minidisc went on, how he ended the highest paid DJ on Radio 1 is beyond me tbh, never got him at all, came across as the gobby fat **** he was.

Proper gulf in quality between the two shows.

I never listened to him after those late 90s shows because of how shit he was. Neither funny nor interesting.

Don’t know if he still has this show, but I was flicking through the stations a few years ago and his breakfast show was one it landed on, and I could be arsed finding another station for a bit so left it on... he talked for fifteen minutes either side of a news bulletin, on music radio! And he was talking shit, just like he was in the 90s, and I presume he has been for the decades between my listens?!

Yes, Moyles is a turd, and this particular utterance is abhorrent, but I think some people aren't happy unless they're being constantly appalled

I'll await a thread bump over the two tossers Ross and Brand , regarding the cowardly bullying of Andrew Sachs and his granddaughter.

Not really. Because they don't just set report the news, they can "make" the news, and influence the agenda in public life. I'm not too fussed about colour in end of itself, but we know that this area of journalism isa socially elite profession with imbedded classism.

I don't particularly care about what is now the ancient history of newspapers.

Do you think if they had more diverse newsrooms there might be a difference in stories, e.g. If there were more people of black heritage or from inner urban areas at the Daily Mail- would they be more likely to take up a campaign to tackle health inequalities and higher mother/infant mortality rates?
