City’s New Kits - 2021/22

I’d say we’ve had no more than four nice home kits since the start of branding on kits in the 1970s.

The only one I have in my wardrobe is the 125 YEARS anniversary kit (which wasn’t even an official kit).

We’ve had a few more nice away kits but, again, not many at all. No more than half a dozen.

In general football kits are dreadful looking items of clothing.

Really, only Umbro have ever nailed it when it comes to football kits in 2009-10 with those brilliant City and England kits they did. Simple old fashioned designs, nice soft fabric. But even those were slightly ruined by our shit badge at the time... until Puma brought out that 125 YEARS shirt the other year which is the nicest City shirt in our history.

But I’m only really bothered about what it looks like from the stands on the players. As long as the shade of blue on the shirts is right (hated laser blue), and we have white shorts (“blue and white they come together, we will carry on forever more”); I’m happy.

I prefer navy or white socks. Navy socks is City, and I always think white shorts and socks make the sky blue shirt standout more (see Umbro 2009–10 and the 2019 Community Shield at Wembley in the 125 YEARS Puma kit).

This shows the varying tastes of our fans as I think that 125th Anniversary shirt was spoiled by white socks... Sky-blue socks would have made that perfect for me!

My preference will always be sky-blue socks, or navy... I can also accept hooped socks, but not a fan of white socks

Ooh, could you do them in navy just to have a gander n’all please fella? Navy socks is the most City colour of socks for me.

I have the 125 Shirt and it's been hanging in the Wardrobe waiting for it's special debut. It came out on Sunday and within 2 hrs had a pull right in the middle of the chest. Never had that on any other City shirt. WTF did Puma design that it can be ruined so easily.

I'm hoping for a revised 2009-10 3rd Shirt with the red/black stripes and the moved sponsorship. If Puma released that there would be massive sales rather than the shitshows they have released so far.

To be fair, the Nike shirts all pulled easily... well the first ones did - I stopped buying them due to the shocking quality... nobody's beat Umbro yet, but NYCFC's new Adidas kit this season is a thing of beauty... if only!!!
