City’s New Kits

NO

Manchester City FC home colours should and always be sky blue with white shorts
I used to fall in line with this too, but the reality is that City play in a mixture. Our shorts from 1976-1985 were blue, and on numerous seasons since including 2 iconic title winning ones.

Think it’s time to accept it’s part of the club’s DNA like white shorts are.

Made my laugh when his eyes lit up talking about the kit. But am just imagining the chaos on here when in next season's video Khaldoon says 'right you tossers in the kit thread I've had enough... you can either have me or a guarantee of white shorts but not both, make your mind up boys and girls'
Bloody hope not, there're enough people precious enough about white shorts that he'd shut the door on his way out! ;)
I only take notice of the shirt tbh, and we have hah enough crap ones to not worry about colour of shorts.
I get the white shorts brigade, but think unless the socks are navy, blue looks better.

Blue shots are not part of our DNA, at least they should not be, it's not our identity, just a marketing exercise.

You would never see the rags, dippers do that, and we should not do either.

Our whole identity should be sky blue and white, unique and very much Manchester City FC.

Exactly !

The all blue this year was a great look.

I dont get this obsession with white shorts being our identity. We've never had any consistency with kits outside of a sky blue shirt.

And please don't do that stupid "but wE lOOk LiKe CoVEntRY cITy" shit. They don't own sky blue shorts. Lazio and Celta Vigo have historically played in sky blue shirt/white shorts. Are we copying them every time we use white shorts?
It for me was a terrible look, poor colours, poor design, poor fit.

Even on the players it looked poor and the sales reflected that.

As the chairman has already stated , the new 2022/23 home kit has already broken sales records because it is a proper traditional City kit, iconic, stylish, quality and represents the true identity of Manchester City FC.

My son really liked the white shirt from this season until THIS arrived in the mail for his 24th birthday! His new favorite!

When you know your sister is the best Aunt she could possibly be to your (adult) son!

Match shirt, signed, and all for moving seats to let his family members sit together!

CLASS ACT!

(And, don’t worry, it’s getting framed. He only slipped it on for a Thank You pic for his Aunt! At 6’2” and 180lbs, he’s a smidge bigger than Ilkay!)

14 years out of 127, doesn't make it part of our DNA, just an anomaly, unfortunately Umbro made an error in 76 changing to all blue in a time when kits lasted 2-3 seasons, they corrected that error in 85 and went back to tradition.

It took 20 more years before tradition was broken by lacoq, and only 5 more times in the last 16 years has our kit makers used blue shorts, nike being the worst perpetrators of this deviation.

14 years is nowt in terms of our kit history

The blue shorts were introduced by the club in the 1970's on the premise that an all colour kit made the players look taller. This was why Shankley dropped white shorts (pardon the pun) at Liverpool and brought in red. I may be wrong but I think he got the idea whilst watching Real Madrid and noticed the all white kit made their players look bigger and more numerous.
