City’s New Kits

Yeah i think youre right, they are buying into the whole package and its maybe shirt sales alone that they lose money on.
Puma (and whatever sportsbrand) want to be associated with winners and the exposure that brings so on the whole they will make plenty. Dont think they are worries lets put it that way.

My point was that as puma outlay so much initial money, they want total responsibility on design so its on their heads be it.
For all fans moaning about designs, truth is most fans , particularly kids, will buy whatever the kit turns out to be.
Every year my kids say “this seasons kits are the best”

Exactly. They are paying, primarily, for advertising and the association of their brand with the club. And then the whole range of clothing and merchandise they get to do/sell. And then finally the kits themselves, which are getting pricier and pricier.

I can totally see the final decisions being theirs to make, as part of that, it makes sense to me. I'll happily 'moan' about this kit or that with everyone else on here, if I so think it. But I regularly point out that for all their nuts attempts and outcomes, puma at least do give it a right go at coming up with something unique and don't just churn out template kits the same as all their clubs just in different colours.

I forget the actual age ranges but its something like , home and away kits primarily aimed at under 21s as they are by far the biggest purchasers of those kits and the zany third kits are aimed at under 14s.
They wont ever aim a design at ‘roger age 55’ because every year he wants the same kit (something similar to our early 70s kits ) and isnt the biggest purchaser of kits anyway

And to add, i was told the 2 girls at puma really do delve into the history of the club and manchester. As you say, not churning out templates but really trying to come up with something the fans would appreciate whilst ensuring they sell.
Think the only bollock dropped was the MAN CITY dark blue kit. Which was a template that other teams used too. The club were really anti it but puma insisted. It didnt actually sell too badly in the end but wont ever be repeated

I still believe the MAN CITY kit could have worked if they'd matched the font to the Etihad sponsor and had both as the same colour.

The end product looked disjointed and lazy.

Looks nice wether it is the real deal or not. I would have the Etihad Logo as Navy or the Puma Logo as white.

For me as long as the shorts are white. I'm happy.

I hope we go back to the 2018-19 combination as the Navy socks looked really good.

I probably will say this seasons kit is the best I've seen from Puma. Probably because the logos are all white and haven't been since 2010-11.

I got nine tops for various people for Christmas:
3 this year home kit
1 x the Chinese New Year special
2 x this year away kit
2 x last year goalie kit
1 x last year home kit

£93 for the lot.
Snide - yep
Cheap as chips and top quality - yep
Would I have bought them as presents from official store - nope
Do the people I bought them for know they’re snide - yep
Do they care - nope.

Each to their own, but since I discovered DH Gate / 777 I could never imagine buying an official top ever again. Seems like financial madness to me but understand some won’t touch them for various reasons.

Any recommended sellers ?
