City’s New Kits

Intrigued to see what they do with the ‘99 playoff kit. It’s iconic and having seen some of the mock ups of current players in retro kits I think it could look great.

Kappa away from the season before, maroon and white was a beautiful kit and although clearly nowhere near as engrained in the City folklore I’d love to see a reproduction of that.

That first Kappa away kit was great but, I think we only wore it a few times but a great design and a nod to it in a future design would be great.

Home kit has navy socks, the traditionalists will be happy to know.
Away is all maroon, pretty plain, youll like it.
Third is indeed a pretty close copy of the play off final kit

Also an additional 4th kit, co designed by noel G
That marker has been laid down with a serious “ITFK” stamp of authority!!

Nice one!

However, let me go on record as “Navy socks…No. Just no!”

You're a wrong'un

Navy socks = class

Name another team that plays in sky blue and white, with dark socks!
Apart from being our traditional home strip, it is unique and as soon as that kit is seen anywhere in the world should be instantly recognised as Manchester City

It does amaze me how supporters of teams such as Bayern Munich tolerate the annual change of home kit colour

Maybe the confusion draws more attention to the sponsor on the shirt.

Personally I've never minded too much if we have dark blue, light blue or white socks (or blue shorts!!) it's how the players wearing them actually play. As you say though looking back through historical kits, especially from the early days City have worn dark blue socks a lot.
Traditional away colours of black/red stripes or maroon as a 2nd kit and white as a third would be my choice (never understood the logic of having a blue away kit).
When the 99 play off kit (as it is referred to)first came out I wasn't keen but as that game still represents the most important result in our history(not the best or most glamorous by any means but the most important) I think a 25 year anniversary one would be appropriate. Maybe some words under the badge saying ' imagine where the fuck we might have ended up being!!!' could be added also!
Good point about Bayern and changing the colours. Maybe to a more extreme extent but Cardiff played in red shirts one season rather than blue (something to do with their Thai sponsors?) Whilst I seem to remember some years ago that Millwall deciding to play in white rather than blue(?)
