I did ask the guy if it was white shorts and he said yeah , no idea further than that tho re any trim.

the club actually get little input into kit design apart from tweaks.
Its very much down to the kit manufacturer, they invest the millions up front and they need to get that investment back so they pretty much pick the kit

But there will be non-negotiables in terms of design at all clubs.
Real Madrid will be all white, non-negotiable. Liverpool all red. Arsenal red with white sleeves and white shorts. Newcastle black and white stripes, black shorts.
It’s clearly non-negotiable that we demand sky blue shirts. We could quite easily say the shorts colour is non-negotiable like the above clubs do. We just choose not to for some bizarre reason.
