My first pair of City socks, had maroon hoops on them. So for nostalgia reasons, I wouldn't mind maroon being on the first kit socks or included in any 2nd or 3rd strips.Personally I've never minded too much if we have dark blue, light blue or white socks (or blue shorts!!) it's how the players wearing them actually play. As you say though looking back through historical kits, especially from the early days City have worn dark blue socks a lot.
Traditional away colours of black/red stripes or maroon as a 2nd kit and white as a third would be my choice (never understood the logic of having a blue away kit).
When the 99 play off kit (as it is referred to)first came out I wasn't keen but as that game still represents the most important result in our history(not the best or most glamorous by any means but the most important) I think a 25 year anniversary one would be appropriate. Maybe some words under the badge saying ' imagine where the fuck we might have ended up being!!!' could be added also!
Good point about Bayern and changing the colours. Maybe to a more extreme extent but Cardiff played in red shirts one season rather than blue (something to do with their Thai sponsors?) Whilst I seem to remember some years ago that Millwall deciding to play in white rather than blue(?)
Cardiff City changed their kit from blue to red, because the Malaysian owner (Vincent Tan) thought red was a "lucky colour" ?
He also changed the club badge and installed red seats in the new main stand extension...
