Agreed, Barton was far from being the best player in that youth squad yet made the transition into the first team better than anyone (that I can remember anyway), a good example of where shear determination and belief can take you, had a screw (or two) loose for sure, but have to hold your hands up on that front.Michael Johnson - People forget the injuries that were the start of his problems. A real shame.
Joey Barton - I actually think he played at the peak of his level. Yes he was an arsehole and he might have had bigger clubs sign him if he wasn't. But I think that he had a determination and will to get to the top that was just off the charts for the average player - a bit like a Roy Keane type just mentaly different / bordering on not right. Most likely both would end up in prison if not in football.
Denayer - Has done well, might be a top class player in a another year or two. But not one for us.
Brendan Rodgers's hubris about his own man management I think.Never understood why Liverpool bought him. Asking for trouble.
FFSFive pages and I'm actually shocked that nobody has nominated Mahrez.
what is he doing these days?I live in the same road as Micheal. Great normal down to earth lad with lovely house and family.
Yes I think this thread needs to sort out the difference between those who lost the plot / had ideas above their station and those who had a career cut short by injuryian Scott used to coach my team at platt lane / he was ridiculously talented. Knee problems finished him at the top level.
