We nicked Rodwell from under the Rags noses. We got him for a price that the rags could of comfortably afforded. While they were chasing Moura and RvP, we quiely concluded this deal. My take on this signing.

I think it was more a case that Jones was their preference.

For a lot more money.. Cracking business by the Rags. Excellent 'value in the market'.

There will be all-out war in the next few years for Ross Barkley as well from Everton, he could turn out better than Shrek. Everton have a really good academy.

I'm happy with Rodwell signing but I do find it very strange everton not putting a fight, even more so because it's us

They are 100% in the shit from a financial point of view. The deal done for Jelavic was a staged payment transfer which should be ok. But the have been hemorrihaging cash for several years. Moyes now knows to keep his mouth shut, Cahill leaving is a real indicated of the problems, Rodwell being sold is good business. Fellani can't be sold, take him out of the team and its relegation time. Baines leaving, well the money being offered isn't good enough. Rodwell, is the only sale that raises some decent cash that they can justify. Pienaar coming back needs paying for. I would have liked Fellani, but that would be for the same money that you spend on Martinez, or possibly DDR. Rodwell has real potential to reach the top and what will probably £12 million down with add on's is good fee.

Cahill is a shadow of the player he was 2-3 years ago. It was a good time for both the player and the club to move on.

Although I would love this to be true, why didn't Everton leak it to try and push the price up? Seems an odd transfer from that point of view.

I'm extremely pleased as he's a good player with bucket loads of potential and he seems like his head is screwed on.
it's possible City put a confidentiality clause in to stop it being linked...ie word gets out and deal is off, as someone else said, Everton need the money so can't piss us about and risk losing the sale. And if the fee of £12 million is correct then a good piece of business by City as I have no doubt he will improve with our coaches and playing alongside better players

The reality from an everton point of view is moyes knew he had to sell either rodwell, baines, or felliani and of the three rodwell was his obvious choice. I personally would have sooner felliani went as have never rated him. Maybe moyes was offered johnson as bait who knows. As a club we have been a selling club for yrs and most of the fee will go back to the bank. Right side of the pitch we are very weak and I would have given Rodwell and barkley a try. Instead we will have anichebe and Phil fuckin Neville ;-)
I hope we get Barkley as well.... :p

Hope we're good with Moyes now and would have first option for Fellaini next year
Wouldn't mind loaning some of our younger players to them from time to time to be honest as long as Moyes has decided we're not disciples of the anti-Christ.

-- Sun Aug 12, 2012 10:14 pm --

future england midfielder, got him on the cheap aswell buzzin about this signing

So the reported 15 Million is a cheap price ?
I've heard 12 million rising to 17 if certain conditions are met (and if those conditions are met it means he's been very successful.) 12 million with the English-tax on is not bad business.
