City amongst the Premier League clubs that support and promote gambling.

This doesn't suprise me. Wasn't a casino rumoured to be part of the Etihad site development? Hardly going to be against it if it affects future ventures are they.

I don’t like it at all. To me it’s similar to having a loan company like Wonga emblazoned on our shirt.
I don’t have an issue myself but advertising sends powerful subliminal messages to people who are into it.
We certainly aren’t the only club, half the premier league are the same but it doesn’t sit well with me.

It’s a great distraction.

The real question should be why so many clubs have bookies as shirts sponsors and that influence on vulnerable players and teams.

Look at what happened with Wigan. It wouldn’t surprise if some PL teams were run the same.

Are we? Didn’t even know we have a Gambling sponsor because we don’t have a massive betting firm on our shirts!

Seems some fans like to post any negative they can on here about our club!

But all good letting other fans on our forum.

I opened the thread, so I'm definitely in the 'some fans' you refer to.
Maybe you could read through my post history and be man enough to say sorry because you'll see that I'm a very positive poster.

I was reading this article on the BBC Sport website and it really focused my concern over gambling in football being supported by the club that I support.
It's an addiction that tears families apart and ruins lives.
We probably all know at least one gambling addict but it can be hard to spot the problem because they act with all the typical behaviours of addiction, by making light of their addiction, lying about it's extent, making out that it's just a bit of harmless fun that adds spice to their enjoyment of the sport they love etc.
Some can keep on top of it but for many it's a one way street to bankruptcy and broken families.

I think that gambling advertising has no place in sport and that City should end their association with their 'official global betting partner' Marathon Bet because it's them making money out of the misery of others.

How do others feel about it?

Even worse for me is Sky paying for Prem rights & having a betting arm. Just doesn’t sit right with me

The why is incredibly simple. The betting industry is extremely competitive, market share is one of the only thing that matters, and thus they budget more money to advertising than equivalent non-gaming companies. They're on so many shirts because they outbid everyone else for the same ad space.
