City are negotiating a big commercial deal with Citibank

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority lost $7.5 billion on their deal with Citibank, so this would be a nice compensation

Is there a link for this or at least a cut n paste?

I think the Op has lifted this from an LC twitter post.

The only reference to it I can find on their site is this one paragraph in Charles Sale's column:

Barclays opting out of renewing their title sponsorship of the Premier League after next season has given top-flight clubs more flexibility signing their own bank partners. Manchester City are in negotiation with Citibank.

Well he did, but the legal battle between Abu Dhabi and Citigroup are stil on in the US.

The case is Citigroup Inc v. Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 13-4825.

Makes it a little bit strange that they at the same time are negotiating a sponsor deal with us...

Economics is one of the main things in life i admit to not knowing the detail in.
I would bet though whatever the dealings it will see man in expensive suits smiling and shaking hands.

Could this be a method to put out the fire as it were for this thing going on in the courts already ?
If that sounds proper daft again i really dunno the nuances of all this so i apologize for the possibly dumb q in advance.

I know this sounds ridiculous but I doubt it'll happen because of our ties with the NY Yankees. Citi Bank is a big supporter of the NY Mets and their ground is actually named after the bank. Us joining with Citi bank would piss the Mets off just as much as if Etihad went and sponsered the Rags.

If you mean this $7.5 billion they allegedly owe Abu Dhabi then I for one would be happy for them to repay it via City.
