City are set to promote Denayer, Lopes, and Iheanacho

Good point, I think I am hoping against hope that Vinny will return to his world class self and haven't really considered the prospect that he is simply past his best and will never regain his form.

I would give a Hart the captaincy and if Denayer and Mangala could play CB together with Demi as backup then Kompany could move to DM?

This could be the best way to utilise a Kompany and his major strengths of front foot defending

I see the agenda-mongers' headlines already, if all three players arent immediately world-beaters. "City's £500 million Academy failure"

Or if all three do succeed, it will simply be the minimum expected based on the huge amount we've spent on the youth set-up!M

But the actual discussion was about whether they will count as HGs in the future, or not.

But back on topic, we already have the maximum no. of 17 foreigner fulfilled in our squad, so even if we sell, let's say Nasri, Jovetic and Dzeko and bring in players like, let's say, Pogba, Firmino, KDB, that we would have 19 senior players, and as Pellegrini counts with a 22-men squad, it would indeed make space for 3 U21-s (or homegrown incomings such as Sterling).

As I understand it, Paul Pogba would count as home-grown, as he started his career at the swamp.

I can see Lopes and Nacho getting in the 1st team squad but Denayer would be 4th choice Centre Back and I get the feeling he just wants to play games even if it means going back out on loan until Demi leaves next year.
I think that by the end of next season Denayer will not be 4th choice CB. All things being equal and barring injuries I'll be surprised if Demichelis gets much first team football next season.
Sorry but it isn't. Kompany's passing, control and vision are nowhere near good enough for a midfield role.
That's correct, in fact it was shown when Hughes tried him at DM for a spell before moving him into the back line.

I just checked his wiki which says his transfer was completed only in October. That would solve the cause why he is not considered as one as he left after 3 seasons (2009-2012), but they were not three full seasons.

Then I googled 'why Pogba is not homegrown', and the first article that came up is Martin Samuel's, which basically confirms what I just said (link here).

Thus, if we do keep Lopes and co. until they are 21 at our club, and even if we do loan them out every season within this period, they would still count as homegrown as current regulations stand.
