City at their lowest... top trumps

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Watford at home 0-0 under Pearce was worst game of top flight football i have ever seen, i came away and said I'm not getting season ticket next year (i did )
4-3 at the swamp
late goal 3-1 carling semi at the swamp
as a kid selling Paul Stewart, Ian Bishop and Mark Ward hurt me

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Bury away, peed it down the entire time, we realised about half way though the first half that probably 80% of the ground was City and we were all as miserable as anything watching that performance.

Or Pearce's team at home vs Bolton. Dire. Football prevention, that stuff.

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Exeter Blue I am here said:
A 1-0 defeat at Wycombe in 98
A 3-0 midweek defeat at Elm Park circa 97
A 0-0 draw at home to a Bristol Rovers youth team in 98
Liverpool in 96 when we went down

.......all of which I went to......and all of which I wished I fucking hadn't

Nah, these are the games which make the current watching all the more enjoyable and deserving.

Spent the last two decades thinking I saw City blow a 3-1 lead to Wolves in '59. All the fuckin' time it was '57. I've suffered longer than I thought I had. Saw the Burnley match in '60 when they won 2-1 at Maine Road and won the title. And then there were a host of matches before Uncle Joe and Big Mal came along, a selection of which would go down in the annals of suffering as the kind o' thing to which you would not subject a dog.

Re: City at their lowest..top trumps

Does anyone else feel we were a bit hard done by with the criticism of the Shrewsbury and Halifax defeats? The fact was both pitches were completely unplayable (Shrewsbury - shot ice; Halifax - deliberately generated hog-wallow) and hence neither were real tests of footballing quality but total lotteries. Might as well criticise .. I dunno .. Mark Cavendish for failing to beat someone in a race on clowns' bicycles.

City vs. Reading

Craig Russell came on for the last 10 minutes and should have been on from the start. He was the only forward who seemed to know where the goal was. Goater is crap. He can't turn or jump and how the hell he has scored 10 goals defies logic.

That bit made me laugh! A further 90 goals later and he's a cult hero!

And to a certain extent, Kevin Horlock

After beating Munich midweek I couldn't help thinking about my low points watching City & came up with these I was at.

Halifax 1980 FA Cup defeat
York away defeat, and fuck off I was there!
Mansfield home defeat, freight bollox trophy,3000 in ground
Oxford home late 90s,lost 2 0,Kevin Francis looked like Maradona and they sang we're bust but we're beating you.

I think those 4 take some beating but I'm throwing down the gauntlet.....you have to have been at the 4 games you nominate though.

Funny, I only start to think about these games when we've lost a game. Just to remember myself it was so much worse than nowadays and that actually cheers me up a bit.
But I do not try and remember them days when we just beat the best team in Europe at their own ground with half the 2nd choice selected. I like to keep a positive mind for tomorrow as well.

Luton by far. Will never get Pleat 'running' the pitch in that dreadfull suit and plastic shoes.
But hey, we just beat Bayern and we have a fantastic game tomorrow ahead of us ...
