I’ve never done a CL away game. It’s on my bucket list. I would however approach it exactly the way you describe. I’m too old to be racing around so I’d need those extra days to remove the stress and allow myself to enjoy the football. Some of my friends go so I have that part sorted.I used to do a few European away games, but the increased cost of flights and hotel stays was another factor in my decision to bin the CL games. I don’t traipse all of Europe to get cheap flights or crash out in hostels. I like direct flights, staying in decent hotels, and making a 3 day trip out of a European away game, which now costs a lot more money than it used to do years ago.

You can't sign up for cup schemes without a season ticket.I don’t bother with any of the cup schemes means I have to accept I might not get all the games I want. But I generally manage without it, be it domestic or CL.
Every game costs me about £150 when I factor in travel. Midweek games cost me a day off work too.
More if I take my eldest.
And that’s without beer etc.
Point is, I don’t feel the need or benefit to sign up to any of the schemes.
Guess the reason might be access to the away games.

The FA Cup that we’ve reached thefinal of for last 3 seasons?Binned all three cup schemes . The CL nights were awful last season, like a trip to Disney. Easy to pick up a ticket for the league cup and I’ll take pot luck with the FA Cup , a competition we seem to throw for one reason or another on a regular basis.

It was a different game back then. Fewer stupid rules, sensible prices, players who were more connected to fans, and fewer restrictions generally. Soriano and his minions definitely have some responsibility for the growing gulf, as there is no genuine discussion with City Matters (and that's deliberate) but the game itself, and the authorities that run it, also bear a large responsibility.

Not if you don’t have the points, with the stadiums they use for CL finals these days your lucky to get 20k tickets, I missed out on Istanbul by 500 points, now if I’d have gone platinum for the previous 4 years I would’ve qualified, I managed to get to Porto through UEFA website and Istanbul via a mate now we’ve not got to the final for two years, save that cash plus say this years and travel put that aside and you can get one on a third party site.You can't sign up for cup schemes without a season ticket.

Think we should get a Chinese player againThere's a billion+ people in China. Organized tours of Western countries which will include tickets to football matches. The club doesn't care if an actual City fan is in the seat. They'd probably prefer men and women paying over face value for the tickets.
These individuals will purchase shirts, scarves, and other tat from the club shop on match day. It doesn't matter a tinker's damn to the people running City that these same people were at Newcastle/Spurs/the rags, etc. the day or week before buying loads of merchandise and filming the whole game instead of watching it like a normal fan would do. They want money, long standing fans be damned.
