cheap flights from liverpool to seville and you can do cadiz or cordoba in a car easy or just stay in seville, they are all lovely cities.

Slightly off topic here, but it's not until you start travelling around Europe that you realise how much a great continent it actually is. When I hear of Americans touring Europe, I wondered what the attraction was.

But once you start experiencing it, you realise there's so much to see.

Salzburg gets my vote, Munich's also nice.

Cologne is great around Christmas time, been to Wuppertall a few times too, got friends who live there and their Christmas market is an absolute belter. Everyone on the gluwein and the market winds all the way through the town centre. Love German cities specially at Christmas.

Couldn't agree more,Germany at Christmas is a very special place,I've done Cologne twice,Munich and Nuremberg,and as someone else suggested,I'm off to Dresden next December.

Thank you all very much,some great suggestions in there for places to visit,quite a few of them i have done already ,Rome,Barcelona,Amsterdam,Munich,Cologne,Krakow,and Venice.

Seville is my pick of the bunch,but the wife now seems to have decided upon Budapest,which i don't think anyone has mentioned yet.

If its to go on the lash , you need to stay out of the euro to make it as cheap as poss...

Riga , Tallin , Vinous , Warsaw, Kracow, Budapest

I have been to 4 of them and can say that Karacow, Budapest are cheap and also thou steeped in history as well.

Places like Amsterdam ( obvious ) but like somene said Florence, Venice, Paris , Barca are excellent as well but going to cost you more in the pocket when your there....

I loved Berlin when we went for the first time in March this year. Really interesting and with great bars and restaurants.

Rome and Florence are special and v romantic.

Currently planning to take the motorbike to Barcelona. Has any one done this trip by bike? Any tips/stopovers etc appreciated.

The wife's favorite trip in Europe,we loved the place.Done a walking tour with a very good guide,the City played a very prominent part in 20th century history.
