We have 2 services going to Ashton opposite the city centre shuttles on Ashton New Road. Let me know if you struggle next season and I can send you some pictures of where they are.
Hi Katie, what routes do they take? I think one goes along Ashton Old Road, don’t know about the other.

It is just a usual 216 route from Ashton New Road, there is 2 of them sat ready to be filled and sent towards Ashton after the game. The City Centre shuttles are just after Maine Road Chippy and the Ashton ones are on the opposite side of the road in the same place, hope that helps.

Great stuff. Will give them a go next season.

Have a good summer!

I hope you had a nice break! No just the weekends! But things may change again for the next season. All the planning starts now. I will see you next season, have a lovely summer!
Thanks for all your answers & interaction - & very helpful information - all season. Looking forward to matchdaybus 8 next season

Hello Everyone

Can you believe we are already gearing up for another season? It feels like yesterday we were wrapping up the last one! I really enjoyed chatting with so many of you here on the forum last season and your insights, feedback and passion really help us in our planning, so thank you!

As we roll into the new season, I wanted to share the latest on the Matchday Buses. After analysing all the data from last season (including what many of you told us directly), we have made a few changes to improve things:

The X services have been removed due to low usage except for MC9X, which has been super popular, so we are now running it on both weekday and weekend fixtures, which should make life a bit easier for those relying on it. We will keep reviewing how things go and will adjust as needed throughout the season.

In terms of stop changes:
  • Removed Stops:
Longsight on MC4

Moss Side on MC5

Trafford Centre on MC9X

Harpurhey on MC12

Newton Heath on MC14
  • Added Stops:
Davyhulme on MC9X

Tottington, Greenmount & Whitefield on MC12

Central Park on MC14

Rochdale on MC15
  • New for Express Services:
MC101 and MC102 has now been renamed as MC16 and MC103 is now MC17.

Piccadilly Rail Station has been added as a new stop to MC16 to make it easier for those of you that come through the station and there will also be a hospitality bus for the MC16 route.

Everything else remains the same, with most buses sticking to their usual routes. You can still pay on board for regular services, and Express buses (MC16 & MC17) can be booked via the MCFC website as usual.

The TfGM website will be updated in due course with all this information, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up. Always happy to answer any questions, and I really look forward to chatting with you all more this season and seeing plenty of you at the Etihad.

Many thanks. Looking forward to meeting the usual group at the bus stop :-)

I was waiting for this one! Unfortunately not, the club set the prices and have decided to keep them the same as last season.
Ah that’s a pity. Too expensive for our group of 4/5 so will probably end up driving which stops the club getting any beer money off me too.

I can understand there being a premium for a direct bus service, that makes sense, but to then not charge that premium for pensioners means that it’s all being subsidised by full-fare passengers.

That said, once the new stand and facilities are open after the games I will likely go back to the tram anyway.

And that’s a problem on going about a quarter on our bus are FOC getting free travel on essentially a private bus service, they should pay at least a couple of quid to allow the rest of us a reduced price, they have to to use the metro link these days. It will only get worse the more FOC use it.

It’s the fact that we have to get to the bus pick up point in the first place. I’m not driving 2 miles and then paying £16 for two, preventing me having a drink, but then if I catch a bus connection it gets to £24 total. On the tram it’s under a tenner for 2. Or £14 if we use a bus/tram pass. Generally we walk the 2 miles as it’s good exercise but then the tram (from the same location) takes about the same time and we’re not tied down to the bus timings.

I’m beginning to think the matchday buses really are just for FOCs tbh which is fine. Most didn’t pay on the one I tried last year so I doubt they’ll ever become self-sufficient.

@matchdaybus

How do you know what time the bus arrives? Been on the tfgm website and there's no info on times that I can see. Eg "be at the stop 3 hours before kick off" or similar

@matchdaybus perhaps you are able to kill this once and for all.
If a FOC (dont ask) uses his pensioner bus pass, do you claim the fare back from the government as with all the other bus companies?
The young ones moan that they could be subsidised if we paid.
The cheek of it, I fought in the war for them, ungrateful b*****s

They release the bus times on the TfGM website for each game, then there was a tracker app for the buses you could use to know where the bus was on the day. From experience of the 3 or 4 times I used it, they were always on time but I know there were issues with traffic jams and 1 or 2 breakdowns on others. I suppose that’s to be expected.

They did start adding the buses to the Bee Network app (a couple of test routes I think it was) so it would be nice to have it expanded to all the routes.

Brilliant, thanks for the info

Only on blue moon could people piss and moan about the price of a sodding bus ticket.

Jesus Christ.

This service is a bargain and a brilliant addition to the inevitable pain in the arse that is getting to and from a very busy stadium.

I got this bus a couple of times last season. Both times the bus was on time, clean and modern, and completely hassle free way of getting to and from the match. My only complaint is it got stuck on traffic on the way back but hey that’s not their fault.

Brilliant service that is much needed and seems is rightly appreciated by a lot of blues.

When I got it a couple of times last season the timings were all on the bee network / tfgm website.

Not sure if they’re fully integrated with the live trackers on the bee network app with it technically being a private bus and not a part of the normal network but would be very helpful if it was.

Convenient perhaps, bargain no, well not for the full price ticket. From Radcliffe the tram is £4.70, the bus is £8. They used to do direct trams but they got removed so it feels now that we’re getting charged £3.30 for the convenience. That’s an extra £60 a year passengers pay each as a result of the network reducing their services.

Without pointing out these anomalies, the operators don’t get to know the impact of their decisions. It’s fair comment seeing as my taxes are going towards the services just like everyone else’s. Just because you think it’s the bee’s knees doesn’t mean everyone feels the same.
