City circle relocating

Here's the main doc in the planning app for City Circle - they were going to start in the SE corner, right near the bridge and also, I suspect, where other works in association with the expansion were going to happen - so not moving far.

Had a quick glance at that document (never seen it before so thanks for posting it) and it would appear that each single letter was anything between 100-150 discs. Let's say 120 average.

At a quick glance the total amount of letters and stars to make up the song is around 300.

That means, they were going to have to sell over 35,000+ of these bloody discs to ever complete the song!

Just what numpty in the marketing department ever thought that level of sale was achievable at the prices quoted.

I'm lost for words really.

Now we have a master plan to relocate the whole scheme to Commonwealth Way. Rather like buying a seat in CB Level 2 only to be told front row in the corner of the family stand and being asked to believe it's a good thing!

Sorry completely disagree I'm shocked that there aren't 35,000 fans that think 65 quid isn't a worthwhile investment to secure your very own bit of the club with your name and words that are meaningful to you as a City fan.

If money's tight, that's sacrificing not going to a couple of games. Great b'day present for friends and family too.

With nearly 8 million fans on fb and 40,000 going to a division 1 play-off final I can't believe that there aren't that many City fans that would want to leave their own individual and permanent mark on the etihad campus.

I think it's fantastic and can't wait to see my own disk in place at the stadium.

I bought 2 circles and haven't heard a dickybird. I sincerely hope EVERY customer is given the choice of a refund, given this change to the advertised product.

Everyone's situation is different. I bought 2 of these at £95 a shot. There will also be people who have purchased these for departed friends and relatives in the belief they would surround the stadium. It's even possible, God forbid, that some people have passed on whilst waiting.

I bought these in Dec 12, it's now Jan 14 and we are told we will wait until Summer before installation! Furthermore, the original location was around the stadium not on some walkway 100 yards away.

Take the blinkers off. A spade is a spade and this is a big one.

I got mine as a Christmas present including a replica disk, so I find that very hard to believe, unless you ordered it since Christmas in which case not hearing a 'dickybird' might not be unreasonable.

If that is the case why have you not rung them instead off posting a mard arse comment.

The point I was mainly disagreeing with was your comment about not being able to sell 35,000. If you thought that why did you buy two in the first place ?

Tbh I'm not really mithered about the design or the location as long as my disk is there with the words I asked for and it is located within the etihad campus, but I respect that is personal choice and I don't expect everyone to agree with my stance on it.

By the way some of you may have heard that Arsenal have copied the idea so I would say our marketing dept and club are leading the way again.

As if any hard up blue would miss a couple of games for a piece of plastic shite.

I wouldn't have one of these if they were free. Each to their own I suppose, but less of the "investment" and "sacrifice" melodrama, for god's sake man.

Not had chance to look at the original order conformation, but with it being so up the wall in the 1st place, actual words being used, letter sizes etc I wouldn't be surprised if there was not a clause In there about no refunds for changes club have the right to etc etc
Not that I'm bothered about the move, just glad to be a part of history, and really hope most blues don't give the club a hard time over it, ( your prerogative to do so if you wish) and look at the grand scale of things that you will get your place in history, just not where was originally planed, and weighted against all the good that's happening around the club, it's just a miner set back.. And like someone said will brighten up the walkway, kinda like the idea that the disk is on Commonwealth way rather then just plonked around the ground.. I have 3 btw

Ordered them in December 2012, last correspondence regarding them was "your payment was successful."
Why would I ring them to see if they've decided to change what they plan to do?! What a bizarre comment.

As you say each to their own. Fortunately I didn't have to make that kind of choice. I've (hopefully) got many hundreds of games to go to, this is a one off piece of history, to have something permanent and your own small piece of the club at the stadium that highlights what City means to you. Clearly, that's meaningless to you and who am I to argue with how you feel about it.

Just to reiterate, I think it's fantastic and am looking forward to seeing my own disk in place.

The Blue Moon discs will be incorporated in the same format as the original scheme,

I take it that this will simply be the way each letter was being organized.

I think the appeal of the original was that it went all round the ground. This new scheme seems to shove it over to one corner.

Probably be the same layout with the outside of the letters being the mid price range , the inside being the lower price range with the more expensive one making up some kind of bordering .
Wondering how much of the song they are going to fit in that space, hope it's not the full song as planed and just the words that we use, was disappointed they planned to use the full song, originally I assumed they would just be using the words we use.

I'm ok with the relocation , with the planned expansion and god knows what's to come on the land next to the ground and if they intend to extend the sides in the future it's prob best they relocate now then later, I know it's not what we all bought originally and there has been lots of dicking about , but still a nice token for fans to have there space for all time at the ground, maybe a free stadium tour for those disappointed... I won't be giving the club a hard time over it ..

Agreed. No need to jump to pessimistic conclusions. Relocation not a problem

-- 03 Jan 2014 21:46 --

This will mostly herd own to the expansion of their stadium meaning the original design around the ground is not feasible. I would also imagine that the demand has not been as high as expected. Surprised as being an indelible part of the history of the club is something that really appealed to me as a die hard blue. Something to show the future kids and grandkids.

Pleased it is still going ahead and looking forward to seeing the revised design.
That's the spirit,me too,£60 well spent.
