City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

I dont really believe the money excuse, IF the rags had beat Bristol and we were playing them last night, I can guarantee the tickets would be more like £40 and would have sold out !
More like apathy setting in, or people think he'll play a weaker team and its on Sky (which isnt cheap)

We don’t have a huge fan base, it’s also aging and plenty is from the south too whether people want to admit or not.
Sold or not, there’s normally quite a few seats empty in the lower tier for league games. These are probably comps, so not really sold are they. I dont think we should be expanding just yet !

I don’t like the word ‘excuse’. At the end of the day people have priorities. I went to the match yesterday but understand why someone would not. Xmas just gone and, let’s be frank, we thought it was going to be doozy. Even with the narrow win, am not worried about the return leg (which am going to).
Is getting expensive watching us as we have so many matches - is a good thing to have these matches but it comes with a cost. Am glad the club is not exploiting this by doing a United - forcing you to be on the cup scheme for the FA Cup and if you opt out of the league cup, you can’t apply for away matches.
And I could not give a toss what fans of other teams come out with. They only talk about seats and the like because they have nothing to talk about vis a vis their own team performances.

i agree. its the fairest thing to do. its not fair on the people who have been to every cup game, to then say they can't have one. when theres a season ticket holder whos not been to any of them.

Yes - I'd go something like this in order of priority:

Season ticket holders on the cup scheme of that particular competition in order of loyalty points
Season ticket holders not on the cup scheme but have attended at least one game in that competition with those that have attended the most cup games given priority
Non-season ticket holders not on the cup scheme but have attended at least one game in that competition with those that have attended the most cup games given priority
Season ticket holders not on the cup scheme and not having attended any games in that competition in order of loyalty points
If any tickets are left, these go on general sale

most of the crowd are from greater manchester. you can see it when your getting the bus, train, the coaches outside the ground. we do have southern fans, but most of our fans come from the surrounding manchester areas. we got quite a good crowd last night anyway.

the age of the crowd wasnt a problem last night. there was loads of younger people there. its league games where its a problem.

I don't get it. We get many on this site saying "build it and they will come" when talking about expanding the ground, yet the club have done just that and only 35000 blues bother turning up for the semi final last night. Yes, we're in every competition and the next home game is in 2 weeks time, but the club couldn't have priced it any better last night. These same "hard up" fans will find the cash for a day out to Wembley if we get there, guaranteed. The club should give ticket priority for any final for those in the cup scheme and those fans, whether season ticket holders or not, that have attended league cup fixtures this season.
the fa cup games was a £10 for adults and £1 for kids, It was 3pm on a Saturday. It has never bothered me with the empty seats jibe because i go to watch my team, if it was only me and my lad there I wouldn't care. The club must be happy with amount of fans going to the cup games 1, they aren't advertised everywhere 2, they aren't compulsory with your season ticket. Maybe adding the group stages of the champions league to our seasoncard would be a better idea. They are guaranteed fixtures, where as we are waiting for the cup draws.

Thought Saturday was great with the amount of kids at the ground. Kids for a quid seems to work, but we can only really do it in the cup games against lesser teams.

its not just kids. its teenagers and younger people in general.last night the south stand or the bit i was in was full of groups of young teenage lads. league games its the opposite. its a bit of a worry that so many younger people are only able to go to cup games.

Is that to do with the loyalty of our fans, The majority have season tickets from Maine Road.
