Not a system I would view with any relish, as I would be punished on the grounds of geographical circumstance. I’ve been going to about 75% of games home and away for over 30 years, but thanks to TV things like midweekers are nigh on impossible for me. My contention would be that the club was happy enough for me to buy a season card when we were effing shite and they needed all the support they could get, so why the hell should I have it taken off me now. Loyalty cuts both ways
 
Hence my point that if the club ask the question first before any ‘action’ is taken. Out of interest do you put your ticket up for resale for midweek games if you can’t get up here?

The first person I asked in the pub took my SC for free for Burnley and Bristol City. He’ll buy me beer when we next see each other. I just wanted the seat filled given my cup scheme membership had paid for the tickets.
 
My comment is based purely from the pov of what Kompany said the other week. Obviously the big bosses are looking at the match day experience through a tv screen now. They want it all to look spot on. I get that families may need to go earlier but the club can't have it both ways. If they want the camera frame to project that ideal image of rammed cheering stands then that image has to be in frame.

Just as a family may need to leave early. A person visiting the city on holiday would watch as as we would an event like sumo if we went to Japan. We would clap and enjoy the spectacle but not much more. These people at the front visually create a problem for that togetherness with the fans stuff. There is a human barrier of gentrified spectators at the front + an army of stewards who spring up like rabbits the second a player runs remotely close to the crowd to celebrate. It looks very clinical on tv and not "organic" for lack of a better term. The couple of rows at the front is not so bad visually from a distance but if it is a pitch side cam following goal celebrations it is pretty noticeable.

Clubs need to find a balance of what they can accept/want. Balancing the desire for aesthetically pleasing tv coverage and seating policy.

Edit: I should add similar should go for the more boisterous sections, singing etc. You do not want them right next to the dugout as it will piss off the manager. Not just that, coked up lads chanting behind the manager is probably not the look we want/to close to vip areas etc. So it is not just early leavers the club need to look at with planning their ideal aesthetic match day image.

Now on the family stand. I've never had a go at the family stand and I think having it is bringing the next generation of supporters through and is a fantastic way of a family of coming to the match
However I do believe that it should be located in an upper tier and not pitchside. It is notorious for emptying early and as I saw with my own eyes yesterday and have seen on numerous occasions at midweek matches
We go on about atmosphere and how us as fans can help creating that daunting arena, well the support on the lower tier behind the goals should be that hotbed

I am a family stand lower tier season card holder
so what you are saying is that you want the next generation to go , but not in the glare of the media. Or is more a case of wanting a cheaper/better view. My lad had flu all week and only at the last minute decided he wanted to go. Now I don't know if you have kids, but they can be fickle and it has nothing to do with how great we are playing. My lads generation have so many visual and computer aids/ distractions. It doesn't help when people who have season cards with thousands of points are selling their ticket on just for the points.

Can I just make one point. We are supposed to all be Manchester City Fans , supporting and fighting the cause against the media and the old sky 4. How can we do this if we are picking fights with our own fans. Surely we should be trying to improve the atmosphere, Maybe putting song sheets on the seats in the family stand or get the ground signing in the concourse by piping the songs outside the concourses. We seem to be able to sing a verse of hey jude before the start of the second half.

Why we usually shoot toward the family stand in the second half is beyond me,from around 80th mins it's virtually empty
