Nottingham Forest set to rename stadium for £500m in mega sponsorship deal

Nottingham Forest are set to receive one of the biggest sponsorship deals in football history this week, according to journalists from Kuwait.

Chairman & owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has been in Kuwait having talks with the Kuwait government, with Nottingham Forest’s new shirt sponsor and stadium sponsor set to be the Kuwaiti government.

The renaming of the stadium to “The KCG Stadium” short for “The Kuwait City Ground Stadium”, is set to bag Forest hundreds of millions in a sponsorship deal larger than Real Madrid’s, Barcelona’s and many other clubs.

It will be the largest stadium sponsorship deal of all time.

Comparing it to other deals, Fly Emirates paid Arsenal £150m for a five year deal for naming rights of their stadium and in the same division, Derby County had a 10-year deal of around £7m. Forest’s meanwhile bags in a huge £500m over 10 years with backing from the Kuwait government.

A huge half a billion (£500m) sponsorship deal spread over 10 years is set to be announced in the next ten days

Bet you it gets criticised less than the MCFC/Etihad deal.

That will be very interesting. In fact if it goes ahead and gets few adverse comments from the
British media then we really will know that there is an agenda specifically against us.

it will only get bad press if and when Forest starting challenging for a CL spot, then they'll be a threat and targeted.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Kevin Keegan, for all his flaws, pointed out this issue ages ago. He said the top clubs (he specifically mentioned Chelsea at the time, because they were the first) would buy up ALL the best young players in the world and simply loan them out to clubs to get experience, then save tens of millions by just "repatriating" then to the home club when they make good. If not, they simply sell them off for a couple of million and make their investment back, and then some.

As we've seen with Emyr Huws, we get him young, develop his potential for a year or two, ship him out to a few (second tier) clubs to get experience, then blood him ourselves. If, at the end of next season, we don't think he has developed ENOUGH, we can get rid and make a few million on him, and move on to Lopes, Zucculini, Huwala, Cole, etc...

On the other end of the spectrum, when the top players get fed up with not winning everything, they will push for a move to either a better option, or a better payday, realizing that they might not ever win the Big One.

The EPL is heading in the same direction as the Bundesliga and La Liga and Ligue Un and Serie A....a few teams we have all heard of and a few also rans from the hinterlands who occasionally get a result against one of the big guns.

Currently, we pride ourselves on the depths of the EPL, where anyone can beat anyone on any given day (even though that generally only happens at the beginning and end of the season!). However, when we look at the likes of perennial second tier clubs (Spurs, Everton, Newcastle, West Ham, Stoke...) they look certain to fall further and further behind the Top 5 clubs, which appear destined to fight over the 4 CL spots for the foreseeable future. Everton and Spurs will probably fight for a Europa League spot with the A.N.Other from the Top 5, but beyond that it will become more and more of a "Cinderella story" when one of the "also-rans" has a good run of results and moves into or contests one of the CL positions after Christmas.

FFP, and the gazillions that flow to the top clubs from both CL earnings and the inflated sponsorship deals that come with it, will only serve to HELP the top clubs pull away without even the chance to have a Sugar Daddy owner come in and INVEST IN A BUSINESS THEY THINK THEY CAN IMPROVE!

As we have discussed here before, FFP was designed to TRY to stop Mansour and other latecomers, but City were so successful, so quickly, we have managed to sneak in under the wire for a paltry £16M...or the price of a bench warming midfielder!! Platini and Gill have shot themselves in the foot with City and PSG and now the second tier clubs are the ones who are crying foul, as they are being shut off from EVER being able to compete!

Re: City & FFP (continued)

The ironic thing is Everton, villa and Southampton all voted in favour of similar FFP regs being brought into the premier league!

Therefore those who are saying you can still spend big until such time as you are in Europe are fundamentally wrong. Not only that even if prem league regs didn't stop them it takes years longer for revenues to catch up any significant investment in players so those who ignored the rules to get into Europe would be punished, would need to break even the subsequent year which they could never do based on the sums in transfers and wages that would need to be spent to make it competitive.

The cosy cartel are no doubt sat in there football ivory towers feeling by pleased with themselves. I only hope we can stick it to me all again this season, they can only keep us down in the face of winning things for so long.

Don't think that's true mate; pretty sure Villa and Southampton were two of the six clubs who voted against it.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

If Forest are negotiating with the Kuwaiti government , will they not , if they are promoted to the PL , fall foul of the rules concerning state aid ?
The aim of this investment is surely to gain promotion and possible European qualification , which would then contravene uefa FFP on this subject - unless they know something about the prospects of FFPs future that we don't!

Villa definitely did, as has been pointed out several times on here, so did QPR, not sure about Southampton but they might have since owner investment got them back to the pl.

There could be related party transaction issues too as his own company is the shirt sponsor.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

I have just posted this on another thread but i think this might be the correct place for it.
Does anyone know of we get paid to take part in these competitions when we tour?
Could there be a competition held by the CFG in abu dhabi, new york, yokohama or melbourne where all involve gets paid a huge amount and there are added bonuses in each game? Could this then be then included in our income column?
