£30m to spend in January not including the Negredo transfer.

Thanks , more than I thought and if we can sell Nasty, Sinclair and Guidetti it could be 40 -45 mill. Course if we get knocked out of Europe The caps and squad restriction won't apply for the rest of the season.

hadnt considered that. yeah may as well have enough to buy 2 players.

it doesnt matter, the restrictions applies only on the CL or Europa. we'll get a minimum of two games there whereas we will have anywhere between 15-20 games domestically. thats where we require the squad to be stronger/replenished

I thought the negredo deal was dependant on them qualifying for champs league, which wouldn't be confirmed till the back end of the season, therefore,no negredo money available in January........or have I misread something?

Valencia have dismissed such rumours. Valencia have to buy Negredo regardless in the summer, whatever their final position is.

We have £23m in the bank for Rodwell & Garcia + £3m for Huws, so we have around £30m to spend in Jan, especially if we get couple of million for Guidetti in Jan and Nastasic.

You have. If I included the Negredo deal it would have been closer to £60m.

Confident we'll get something from the next two games are you?

We could quite conceivably finish bottom of the group and face no more European games this season.

my statement was more to why we need players as domestic games will outnumber European games. I should have added "if we qualify for European knockout stages we get a minimum of two games, whereas domestically we might have to play 15-20 games by the time the winter window closes, so our needs in terms of players for the squad should be independent of whether we are in Europe or not"

I understood your point, I've just seen a few comments that assume if we fail to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League we'll be in the Europa, when in reality we're more likely to end up out of Europe altogether.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Are people sure we are limited at all in January? The club statement at the time specifically only mentioned the upcoming summer transfer window with the cap, and the UEFA statement doesn't specify at all.

MOURINHO IS IN NO POSITION TO SCOFF AT CITY

Manchester City’s next financial figures are believed to show a loss of just over £20m. There will no doubt be the usual criticism from their rivals, not least Chelsea, who recently announced an £18m profit. Now his club complies, Jose Mourinho has been very vocal on the subject of City breaking financial fair play rules.

The fact Chelsea’s numbers include the sales of Juan Mata and David Luiz, but not the purchases of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, however, rather puts into perspective the vagaries of financial results. In the 10 years building up to this momentous day of significant profit, Chelsea lost £600m.

Maybe much-maligned City could have turned it around given a decade to spend as they wanted, too — particularly as they expect to be in the black just over a year from now, a more significant achievement considering their humble starting point.
