City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Sorry for asking a question that's probably been asked many times before, but it's a huge thread.

Does anyone know if we will be allowed to spend 'freely' from January 2015 and onwards if we are found to have complied with the FFP rules this year? I've read quite a few times that the penalty will be lifted if we stay within the limits that have been set out for us.

We can spend what we want providing we stay within the limits so we would need to sell players to make up any deficit but that is separate and a part of the punishment. I don't know the terms of the sanctions but I'd assume if we failed FFP again we'd get another separate sanction, if we pass we don't. Whether we pass at the next calculation or not, as far as I know, the penalties stand for the next 2 seasons regardless as a punishment.

EDIT --- Just read again, we will operate without sanction if we pass FFP next season. I'm sure the club will have a good idea whether we will pass or fail so we can spend what we want next summer.

I have understood it that if we break even in 2013-14 financial figures, then the sanctions for 2015/16 season will be lifted, if we make loss (2013/14) then those sanctions remain in place for another (2015/16) season.

I'm probably wrong on this, wouldn't be the first time.

That's how I've read it too. Sanctions still in place until FFP assessment in May (so still in place in January transfer window), then operating without sanctions from Summer 2015 onward provided we stay within guidelines, which we should.

Even with sanctions still in place we have around £30m to spend in January (not including Negredo transfer) if we deem it necessary.

Of course, UEFA could move the goalpost once again.

Going off what Khaldoon said back in May, I'd imagine we're running at a profit right now

Of course we are. 2012-2013 we made £270m and our wage budget was £230m. The only reason we didn't break even that season was due to spending money on the likes if Navas.

This season our revenue has increased and we have spent very little (net) on transfers. I'd expect to see a considerably profit for the 2013-2014 accounts.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

When are our accounts released actually, it's normally around this time of year is it not.

We spend £50m on the likes of Javi Garcia, Maicon, Sinclair, Nastasic that season. Navas etc. was bought 2013-14 season. We will break even in 2013-14 accounts, I don't think that we will make much profit 2013-14 figures. 2014-15 figures should be considerably profit.
