I am not sure there is much of a cartel left. Do you think it is a coincidence that the family who own PSG are now the biggest sponsor of Barcelona and may well be involved in rebuilding the Nou camp, or that the family who own City are now the biggest sponsor of Real Madrid and are about to finance and rebuild the Bernebau. Oh and Chelsea have changed their tune as well. Now on one side PSG, barca, Real, City and Chelsea on the other Bayern, Rags, Milan, Arsenal and liverpool.

Ask yourselves who the cartel really is and who is going to win the argument!
The latter clubs have been outmaneuvered in a game of their own making. They won't all perish; some of them are too strong for that to happen, but many of them will be irreversibly weakened by their own inability to see which way the wind was blowing.

Bloated by their own sense of entitlement, they assumed their place at the top was insuperable; easily calcified by virtue of a hopelessly simple set of rules, devised to maintain the status quo. Those same rules now act as a glass ceiling to their ambitions as clubs, Milan in particular.

Hoisted by their own greedy petard. Fucking love it.

I'd forgotten about those bastards (which is kind of the point I suppose)! Them begging for a wild card place in the Chimps League on the grounds of 'prestige', was one of my warmest, fuzziest, moments of the season so far. Cnuts. :-)

Who can forget the sneering, snidey way they spoke about us following the Kaka fiasco.

Disrespectful motherfuckers.

Very encouraging figures. We are rapidly catching up. Soon see us in the top 4.
What is concerning though, our match day revenue is well down.

We all know who'll foot the bill for that. These extra corporate seats can't come soon enough.

Great financial results, these will be largely ignored as they are clearly the elephant in the room when it comes to football finance.
No one wants to eat their humble pie, the media won't want to talk about it. I'm willing there won't be 20 minutes of Sunday Supliment talking about how wrong they were, and how City having been planning for this all along.

I doubt those whom have regularly referenced our finances, cough 'Wenger & Mourinho' will come out and applaud us for our attempt to comply.

This could be an amazing month, imagine the squirming from the the usual media gutter rats if and we probably should win every game in December, close the gap on their bum chum Mourinho, announce record revenues and outstanding financials. Then unveil the Achademy. Hey, we even started to show signs of our holistic give youth a chance policy.

What will they have left? I almost feel sorry for them..

"What is concerning though, our match day revenue is well down".

Just wait until it's a £1000 a season ticket. I'm already paying £750. Perhaps when everyone is paying £2000 a season ticket your concerns will be no more?

I truly believe that will never happen. Once the club has built the dream and sponsorship is flowing in like a Tsunami, the extra couple of million from Season Tickets from us plebs will mean very little.

As Bayern currently proclaim with their cheap tickets, imagine in a couple of years when we are blitzing them financially.

I truly believe that our ticket prices will drop as a gift from HRH.

Even when Leo comes, sponsorship and shirts will virtually pay for him anyway.

(I am a glass half-full bloke)

Whilst I appreciate ADUG are the investment arm of Sheik M. (they must make money for our owner) ticket prices have had to be increased as a contribution to compliance with FFP.

It now looks likely that shortly there will be an abundance of profit that may in fact result in a reduction in ticket prices.
Certainly a full stadium for all matches would be helpful and stadium expansion will only exaggerate the current criticism.

As an aside, I understand the local football stadium in AD is full on match days mainly because a proportion of free entry is provided by the rulers.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

I agree on the ticket prices, I think they will come down. City have seen how the fans aren't able to afford games when they are priced too high. They've seen that the CL means fuck all to us unless we can afford to go and they can see that televised games are impacting on attendances as well. The money they make from corporate sales, sponsorship and tv rights will help them balance ticket prices for the everyday fan. They've already allocated some £299 season tickets and as the ground gets bigger they'll be able to offer more lower priced season tickets as a balance. They might not be cheap but I don't think they will rise beyond what they are now, and in certain areas will probably come down in price. I'm hoping that for the legacy and future of the club they think carefully about family season tickets and things to ensure we get lots of local kids hooked on the club.

It would one of the many cherries on top, whilst the rest of Europe's top clubs flounder and buckle under their own lack of foresight, City stroll merrily by, announcing a drop in ticket prices on account of strong commercial growth, no longer needing the revenue to comply with UEFA's bullshit.

This will mean nothing because we don't have 'history' !

beautifully put. I will be "stealing it with pride"

Re: City & FFP (continued)

One thing I've wondered re ticket prices. is it possible to get ticket sponsorship? so for example etihad (or whoever) sponsor city tickets and that money acts to subsidise ticket prices.
the positive exposure for whichever company did it would be worth every penny and I'd love to see UEFA try and exempt it from FFP.
