City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

This is fucking brilliant. It's over. They are going to allow "investment" and that's all we need.

I honestly think that much of this was cooked up in those meetings during that week where the announcement of our fine was delayed and delayed and delayed. I reckon Khaldoon and Soriano have ultimately played hardball here and pulled it off.

Even some of the language used by both parties at the time suggested that. UEFA made bizarre comments like "FFP has been a success", Khaldoon was bullish.

I suspect our rivals are going to be given a huge reminder of the thing they feared more than most.

Sheikh Mansour deciding money doesn't really matter, whatever the cost.

These imbeciles never realised he and City were actually being prudent, previously.

That's the reality of wealth that could buy Messi and Ronaldo in the same day if that was their inclination.

Economies of scale and all that.

I wish it was! Or at least Bale and Pogba anyway.
Why are we 'only' going for the likes of Firmino & De Bruyne if FFP is no longer an issue?

Who says we are ?? The media ?? Enough said. The cockwombles of the earth.

Especially those MUEN cunts.

I remember a lot of people reading the UEFA and MCFC statements, and there seemed to be a huge grey area in between them both in terms of what our sanctions were and how long they were to be imposed.

I'm guessing the grey area is now unfolding.

It can only be one of three things I can see pal...

1) Khaldoon's call for a ten-year monitoring period which will allow investors to prove their long-term commitments, and an addressing of clubs in severe debt.

2) Investment which is not a loan, which has to be converted to equity.

3) A sum equal to the window spend that is then held in Escrow by Uefa to ensure the club can sustain itself over an agreed period.

I also remember a whole load of flapping amongst many of our own fans at the time and since - the night the sanctions were announced I was at the Arena in town waiting for Prince to come on stage and a mate phoned me to tell me the news. "They've fucking stitched us up the twats!" he said. I was quite calm about it much to his surprise (because he knows I love a good rant now and again!), and just went along with Khaldoon's thinking about taking a pinch, knowing that even if the current FFP regs remained in place we were growing at such an astonishing rate that unless we bombed on the pitch (something I alluded to yesterday on here) they didn't have much if any chance of stopping us and the worst it would ever do is slow us down. Not only that, I and plenty of others always felt there would be plenty of unintended casualties of FFP in other countries meaning that complaints would be flying in from all over Europe to get the rules relaxed. I just wasn't quite expecting the likes of AC and Inter to be doing the complaining and performing such an abrupt about-turn which has been highly amusing considering they're 2 of the clubs that Platini specifically cited as being in favour of FFP in the first place.
