City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

but his wealth is the reason we could outspend everyone if spending was unrestricted, this is hypothetically speaking of course. I don't think it's a good idea to allow that.

I intentionally boiled a few peoples piss who needed it boiling.
But thats simply not supported by the facts... City set a value for a player like VVD or Maguire and we steadfastly refuse to budge.
Well quite. Esteban’s core point that a billionaire aided unfettered spending spree could damge football is undoubtedly theoretically a live one

but in the real world club owners (most of which in the top 2 tiers in England are billionaires) don’t throw their money away indefinitely. They are billionaires as they are shrewd

theoretically we could buy anyone and pay any amount of wages. But we don’t. Our owners want to make money

Impossible to say if they were even interested in some of our signings(they mocked the Silva, Yaya and Aguero deals) but isn't a better point that if not City, then it would be someone else spending more to build the best squad? If not Chelsea, then United, if not United then Liverpool or Arsenal, that's the way it's always been since the 60s. What is the point it pretending that football would be any better in any of those scenarios? Since City still have one of the lowest club record signings among the Euro elite clubs it's pretty obvious the transfer market wouldn't be much different either, City are nowhere near the top inflators of the transfer market.

It's also a fact that the first decade of the PL was one of the least competitive on record, in terms on names on the title and the amount of teams in the top 4 I'd reckon too.

In support of your your last point. There has only been 12 league and cup doubles in the history of English football. In the 9 years between 1994-2002 Utd and Arsenal won 5 doubles between them. They had by far the highest wage bill and also spent more than any other clubs. Without Chelsea and City we could have had a league similar to Bundesliga with Utd as Bayern, Arsenal/Liverpool as Dortmund.

For whatever reason, my post was deleted the other day and respect the decision by the mods to tone down the conversation.

Nonetheless, I feel it is important to repost some factual information for the less educated amongst us which clearly shows that Manchester City is not State owned. Credit to Wikipedia.

The City Football Group (CFG) is a holding company that administers association football clubs. The group is owned by three organisations; of which 78% is majority owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), 12% by the American firm Silver Lake and Chinese firms China Media Capital and CITIC Capital.

The Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG), is a United Arab Emirates (UAE) based private equity company owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan,[1] member of the Abu Dhabi Royal Family and Minister of Presidential Affairs for the UAE.

It was initially thought that Abu Dhabi United Group was a part of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, a sovereign wealth fund owned by Abu Dhabi. But Abu Dhabi United Group had denied connection to the government of Abu Dhabi.

And don't forget the world's largest solar power plant. In fact Abu Dhabi is one of the world's leading countries for renewable energy. But don't let the inconvenient facts get in the way of the "dirty oil money" narrative. Every single penny invested in City and CFG has been driven by Sheikh Mansour moving away from any dependency in his business on fossil fuel revenues. He has successfully achieved this, making a huge profit in the process. At some stage the English press will have to change their fake story about how City are actually funded. The media is just looking increasingly stupid.

I mean, even if it were all true what’s so wrong with “oil money” anyway compared to other types of money? Liverpool had “Pools money” so effectively gambling money, West Ham have “porno money” as a result of the Dildo Brothers owning the club, and United had “Rotten meat” money as Louis Edwards was poisoning schoolkids across Greater Manchester before conveniently doing a Robert Maxwell on the eve of a World In Action expose into his activities. Latterly it became “sex pest” money when his son took over the reigns.

Football needs some serious spending this window to help keep all the wheels turning so I hope we go over 300 mil and some
