City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Interesting take, I see Qatar/ Paris in it after the WC as much as before.

However you could be right, I always thought they were hanging Mbappe out by not accepting Reals bid and saying he has promised to not leave on a free. He got them a very fair deal TBF.

However, the main motivation in all this could be a CL win the year the WC is in Qatar and as you say that could then be seen as job done.

Not sure I agree, but I do get your logic.
Mate, I don’t agree with myself most of the time, only theory until we see the end state.

Since the biggest "imbalance" in football results from participation in the Champions League, I'd suggest that that would be a good place to start a fairer distribution of finances.

Wishful thinking but I'd pool the bulk of CL monies earned by clubs and divi it up across the league from which they qualified with a reduced amount going to the actual participant clubs.

Get a really strong impression that Soriano and Berrada aren’t liked at all within the world of football.

Villa were hawking Grealish around to avoid us, before us having to get Khaldoon involved.

The Kane debacle

Really struggle signing players not on a release clause.

I’d imagine Txiki has a lot of relationships within the game due to his high playing and DoF profile, but the other 2 seem pariahs

Ceferin:

“It is now time to seriously work together to put in place a true, direct cost control system," Ceferin said at the opening of the European Club Association (ECA) General Assembly on Monday.

"What I'm speaking of here is financial responsibility. This does not only mean that clubs shall spend wisely; it also means that the clubs should understand that their own financial strategies can and do impact the others.

This is why I'm of the view that a cost control system of checks and balances, limits and allowances, can be responsible, accountable and, importantly, transparent. We can do better and with the current crisis, we can forge an improved path.

I'm absolutely sure of it but let me highlight something very important. Financial Fair Play is not about competitiveness. We need to realise the true objectives to have a clearer understanding.

"Cost control systems and competitive balance measures are two different parts of one body. Of course, they are interrelated - we know that - but they have different objectives.

"My friends, of course, we can and we will work together on sensible measures to address competitive imbalance where necessary.”

Here they come again…
A shorter version of this statement is: Barcelona and Real Madrid will be allowed to run up billions in debt while they receive millions of pounds in direct state aid while other clubs in Spain are left to rot. Meanwhile over in Germany Bayern will continue with their dubious business model which allows sponsors to invest directly in the club at the same time as they own part of it. This huge direct owner investment is not football revenue but it allows Bayern to run a one-team cartel which excludes all other German clubs from any meaningful success.
In Italy Juventus will also be allowed to run up billions in debt being bailed out by its dubious owners. You can be sure that any new FFP rules will not make any mention of the Juventus owners' well-publicised links to organised crime. In other words it's business as usual for UEFA.
