City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

You are correct. So much presumption on the behalf of so many bodies and parties, unnamed sources and token placation to try and make it seem no agenda behind it.

It's actually one of the most shocking pieces of tripe I have read in a very long time.
I assume it’s an editorial decision to publish this and they’re happy to piss the club off.

They get nothing from the club, certainly they don't get the briefs the rest of the pack get.

Why say in eight thousand words what you can say in 800?

On this occasion, it's because 8,000 words achieves the objective of the narrative, so might as well throw everything at the wall and try and pass it off as serious journalism.

The lack of awareness when he states there is valid focus because City, well, they have won three titles in the last four seasons and likely to win it again this year.

Might as well have headlined it 'City - it's not fair'

That Crafton article is pretty poorly written, full of insinuations, ignorance and innuendo. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing.

It’s carrion for the old money brigade and is a poor indictment of the Athletic’s declining journalistic standards.
Isn't that the Premier League motto?

Pavelsrnicek. i read recently that the Athletic isn't profitable despite it reaching its desired size and scale some time ago. I don’t know where they are upto with the buyout by the NYT.
If the business model isn't working they have to do all they can short-term to raise revenue, no doubt in places forsaking any remaining semblance of journalistic standards and principles to garner clicks.

I hope they crash and burn and their red shirted wanker employees who give us a hard time are badly scarred by the experience.

Agree with the sentiment tolm but it's no der speigel..

I've only skimmed it so far but still spotted some pretty basic factual errors. Stefan already on the case for that in his twitter feed as he extracts certain paras and highlights the bollocks.

Also there is some new stuff in there (for me anyway and I've researched this quite extensively previously) but needs to be fact checked. Ironically, some info can be used to argue why deep down many PL clubs love UAE money :)

So much for a subscription based service not having to pander to the usual suspects!
