I agree with some of the previous posts it's time to unleash the lawyers. We've been nothing but compliant with this joke of a law and our accounts show we are going in the right direction and are looking to break even next year but they then turn around and want to fine us £50 million of our CL money and reduce our squad numbers so we fail them the next year as well and they can slap us with further punishments next year. They can go fuck themselves.

Has anything been confirmed that the fine would come from CL money? Or are we still all speculating? There would be a very big difference between that and just the owner being able to pay it directly which I'm sure is something I read earlier today. Still too much bullshit floating about at this stage though to be honest.

I just can't see them letting us get away with that. They know our owner is rich as fuck so why would they let us off with letting him pay what is pocket change to him when they could really fuck us by taking it from our TV money.

Just checked SSN and it's still speculation.

Nothing has really been confirmed. I saw this morning a tweet that said it wouldn't. Then later, there's talk of the fine coming from our CL money. A fine that doesn't affect FFP is one thing, but we can't book revenue we don't have. It seems to me that the latter would be a deliberate attempt to ensure that we fail compliance next year.

Because they want to stay in seven star hotels all around the planet on City's dollar.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Am I right in thinking though that from now on we will be breaking even and making profits?

If that is the case then surely FFP will become a distant memory from next season and this charge will be a one off for us?

Soriano seems to think we are going to financially stable in the next few years.

This fine is ridiculous though, I can understand the squad restrictions as a punishment but 50m as well?

It's like they have just conjured up any big number because they know we are a rich club.

I'm not knowledgeable about EU law. In American law, if you accept a punishment it sets a precedent and becomes very hard to challenge later.

If we accept a settlement, what is to stop them from sanctioning us even worse next season? We will not only have admitted guilt but also admitted that FFP is something we accept on principle.

If, and that's a big "if", these leaks are correct, this is all-out war. They mean to drive away players with a limited CL squad by reducing our foreign players to 13 spots, they intend to disqualify our revenue, AND they intend to make it harder by depriving us of CL revenue. The latter two make compliance next year damned-near impossible, and it opens us up to this process again.

Out of curiosity, what about all this suggests UEFA want a compromise? They say they want us to break even, and yet they enforce the fine against our CL revenue, which is a clear intention of causing non-compliance so that they can hit us harder next season. They could just as easily ask for a fine that doesn't affect breakeven compliance, which I'm sure left our executives shocked (and hence this delay).

If these are the sanctions we're looking at, this is an existential threat to the club. It shocks me that people think David Gill is putting on a show to look tough. He wants us dead. If this were really a dog and pony show, why the delay from both City and PSG? It seems most likely that we both got hit with sanctions that went far beyond expectation, and now we're reeling. That's my read on it. This would have been settled last week if FFP wasn't a serious threat.

I dunno, just some thoughts. Does anyone know enough about European law to answer my question about precedent-setting?

this is an existential threat to the club

That's some seriously worrying perspective right there.

I've radically altered my view on this over the last 24 hours. If these cunts want to step then let them fucking try it. I hope we take them to court and fucking smash every bone in their skulls. The bitter, arrogant, nasty little fucks.

Same here.

I think they gave us a delay to "think about it" because what they really want is our signature. They want us to accept it so that when they do it again next season, we won't have a leg to stand on. Over and over until our CL revenue is gone and compliance becomes problematic.

And then the whammy, our league which recently passed its own FFP "based on UEFA FFP". Wow. Now it's TV income and league registrations.

Not an expert here but it does worry me that this is conceivable. Once we agree to this shit, what's to stop the league from doing the same thing with the EPL FFP?

The entire concept of compromise is premised on your opponent believing you have a right to exist. They don't. The big clubs don't want deals that just delay our inevitable dominance, they want us gone. What makes anyone believe that Platini, Gill, and all the other agents of the G14 want a real compromise?

Aaah, never mind. This is worst-case scenario. I just don't understand the assumption that we are negotiating on good faith. The only thing that will make UEFA back down is the threat that their FFP will be thrown out, or lose money in litigation. That's it. Short of that, they'll do anything to see the end of us.

It really does seem like the gloves are off. Gill´s secondment from the scum to Uefa was done simply to rally the troops and sycophants of the erstwhile G14 and jackboot (pardon the metaphor) our faces into the ground. Gill has clearly nailed his colours to the mast on this and the Sheikh won´t like it one little bit. He trusted these fookin charlatans and now the interlopers have ripped up the rulebook and besmirched his integrity. Woe betide the fornicating unbelievers.
I imagine we´ll sit on our hands until judgement is handed down from the ECJ and see who blinks first in reaching a settlement. I am slightly worried that the rag gutter press will twist the story with their sordid agenda depicting us as the Dark Knights and we´ll be left with the Martin Samuels´of this world haymaking from the corner of the ring in defence.
Dis gon be guuuuudd!!!

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Filling the UEFA coffers so that Platini et all (Pisscan and Gill) can swan about Europe in luxury.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

1. Get into the CL and get £25mill prize money.
2. Get in he CL and get a £50mill fine.
3. Don't play in the CL and make a £50mill loss(Liverpool), and it's not a problem.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

TBF... If we're having our CL income withheld, having our playing squad choked so that it's both difficult for us to do well and to attract new players...

Why is that so much better than being excluded?

Re: City & FFP (continued)

if this is how's it's going to be, with fines and squad restrictions, and exclusion from their competiton, its going to mean a break-away competition, which will water down the champs league, and cost them more money than us in the long run.
