I expect our punishment to be far less severe than PSGs given our co-operation over FFP, I still think the papers have plucked this '£50 million fine' out of thin air (or one dodgy source).
How would that ever stand up as a fair punishment?
How does their deficit compare to ours. I thought it was supposed to be similar. In which case the fine should end up being similar.

It's complicated. PSG made no attempt to comply and clearly had an inflated sponsor deal. We on the other hand ended up in UEFA's eyes failing by a similar amount on a technicality. The club expected to get the wages from before the 2010 season deducted (8om) but because UEFA believe our club's deficit isn't lower than those wages we didn't get to write off that 80m and therefore failed quite badly. It seems to be based on the intellectual property rights from the NYCFC, Ladies MCFC and the club in Australia. Not sure if they aren't crediting us at all or a reduced rate. Seeing as how we have hired the individuals who wrote the FFP rules to handle FFP for the club I find it hard to believe they don't know what's legal and what's not. IMO UEFA clearly don't want us to pass and are feeling pressure from the "old boys network" to find a way to ensure we don't pass.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Would I be the only one who wouldn't give a shit if we were banned from Europe for a season? It's not ideal but the UCL isn't exactly brimming with quality matches and it's got corruption riddled through to its very core. I know I probably wouldn't miss it, although no doubt the owners will, we have all been fooled (and the MANY sponsors) into thinking it is the absolute dog's bollocks in regards to Football Tournaments. That is the absolute opposite of what it is, when was the last time there was an absolute classic match that wasn't already an established derby? I've seen better football overall watching mid-table BPL teams duke it out. But of course football can go hang when the money coming in is just so big, especially from Russian gas and oil magnates, oh what's that you say? Big spending Chelsea were in the semi-finals again? What a coincidence.

I'd rather win the league ten times over than win the UCL just once, I honestly mean that.

I think anyone would

Re: City & FFP (continued)

One thing guaranteed to get the British media and the great unwashed on our side is if we feel we are being unfairly treated compared to the French. It would also be very hard to play this. That said if that is PSGs punishment then it suggests we could get the same and I don't know why the hell we would fight a 6m a year fine over 3 years that is less than the legal fees would end up costing us .

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Been thinking about the apologists comment.

If someone states at you in a bar and calls you a twat do you a) ignore someone beneath your contempt and go on with your business or b) start screaming smack them , get taken away by police, spend a night in the cell and then pay your 300 quid fine the next morning patting yourself on the back that you showed them?

I am surprised how many b's there are out there!
