City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Why is there still so much confusion around this thread? If we are confused, the morons at UEFA must be catatonic.

Why is he suggesting the fans try to get a judge to stay the execution of the FFP sanctions? Cant he make that application?

At a guess it needs someone that is actually affected by our punishment. Club could but doesnt want to, fans could, sponsors could.
It's because European courts put more emphasis on protecting the consumers (you and me) rather than big companies/corporations.

So, how would a fan or group of fans go about bringing a court application? Was his comment a veiled invite for us to get in contact with him?

IMHO his comment was a direct invite to City and PSG fans to join the application, which would then become even stronger. It could surely be argued that FfP was inflationary, with respect to ticket costs etc, clubs being forced to increase revenue this has certainly occurred at City with above inflation increases for the last three seasons or more. How we go about it , we await Mr Dupont's reply to a mail sent to him by a Bluemooner

Re: City & FFP (continued)

I was just reading the 'Nissan' thread and the anouncement about our tie-up with them in the J-league in Yokohama Marinos. Could this be the mysterious third party for the contentious image rights etc deal that UEFA didn't like? Here's a snippet;

The globally innovative partnership between business and sport will provide the four times Asia champions, and three times J-league champions, in-depth knowledge and experience across the CFG global network which consists of the new Barclays Premier League Champions Manchester City with its senior, youth and women's teams, Melbourne Heart and New York City Football Club. In forming this partnership, YF Marinos will gain unrivalled access to CFG's training methods, medical care, sport science, team management and coaching know-how, providing a motivational draw for young Japanese players and placing the club in pole position to support the national team efforts of creating a world-class team for the future

I'm putting 2 and 2 together, but it seems to make 4.

I'd be up for a class action brought by the fans.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

"In normal circumstances, the club would wish to pursue its case and present it's position through every avenue of recourse. However, our decision to do so must be balanced against the practical realities for our fans, for our partners and in the interests of the commercial operations of the club." This part of the club's statement leaves no doubt as to the club's attitude, especially as it comes at the end of strongly worded assertions that City have never done other than pursue it legitimate goals in the face of obstruction, bad faith and deceit from UEFA, culminating in a perverse and false decision that City had broken the rules. The reast of the statement demonstrated the complete irrelevance of the sanctions. The conclusion is obvious: City have nothing but contempt for UEFA and UEFA can't get in our way again, and had better not try.

City decided against going to court because of the possible consequences of a CL ban and the damage to its image of a court case. We won't fall foul of the regulations again, so let the bloody fools who wanted the regs live with the consequences, while we get sponsors for every inch of the training complex and outsource services then get on with increasing capacity at the stadium before developing the cash cow which is the collar site. How many underwater exploration partners can the rags find? How many of their 650 million fans will buy a shirt? How much bigger can Kroenke make the Emirates? Will he keep his sponsor with his ability to offend Arab sheikhdoms? How many young players can Chelsea buy and sell at a profit? Expanding "the bridge" seems a tad pricey at best! And might there just be a bit of pressure on UEFA (from City's lawyers?) to examine why so many sponsors of Bayern Munich are also shareholders in the club?

Savour the moment but smell the roses, Michel. This is as good as it gets.

Update.

I have been asked to change this mail but.

I know what to do if we want to join the action and for it to be effective. I will write it up and open a new thread later if the mods don't mind.
