Re: City & FFP (continued)
I've tried to say this in a few of my previous posts, so i'm in danger of sounding like a broken record but FFP suits our owners to the ground just at this moment in time. We have to realise that our owners aren't football fans like us, they're businessmen and politicians. They've had 5 years to challenge FFP in the courts if that was the route they really wanted to go, instead of which they have chosen to work inside the framework rather than oppose it. The reason for this, i would submit, is that now we are on the verge of breaking even and are becoming successful on the field FFP will no longer affect us because all the upfront expenditure has been made to get us where we are and the club will now become self financing and self sustaining. Why would our owners having gone to all this trouble now want to open a door for other investors to buy other clubs and do the the same as us thereby creating unwanted competition for revenue and trophies when UEFA have gone to all this trouble to close it for them. Is it fair? No it's not. Is it right for our owners investment with City? You bet.The Colonel said:goalmole said:IMO, it'd be the last thing the club would want. The Colonel said:While I'm sure that the club could not put their name to any such action, we should, in the very least, guage their view on this.
This is the danger due to potential effects on brand, sponsors etc and we should look into this first. However it is possible that it may be encouraged if they see it as an alternative and removed action. If we are given the club's green light I would passionately support any move to reverse the injustice and fat cat bullying at the top end of the football business.
