City Football Group Sign Worldwide Deal with SAP

The attention to detail is phenomenal at our club now. Seikh Mansour is the Lord Thy God.

All you cynics saying it'll take years to implement are talking through your arses.

The SAP data analysis software is already working and they're crunching data to identify good young transfer targets. First name out was some lad called Bell who plays for Bury. So there.

HANA is OK - pretty neat technology in fact (and I used to sell it). It's the ERP stuff that's a pig to implement and has the usability of a rhinocerous. Large companies (admittedly much larger than City will ever be) have been known to spend £1bn+ on implementing ECC6 (aka SAP's latest ERP incarnation.) Such implementations almost never pay for themselves but are driven by some CIO with an ego seeking to boost his CV by bragging about the size of the SAP project he's sponsored.

The company I work for partner with SAP on their ERP product and it's still a popular product as a manufacturing solution.
You see them sponsoring a lot of formula one.

Let's hope we start spending this money soon - the silence is deafening at the moment.

Interesting that people say they was no investment in training. I used to work for a company that had SAP training as one of it's core products. £1,000 per seat/per day, max 10 people. Was the best thing I ever sold in my life. Had people queuing up for it.

What I'm surprised about is that nobody has thought about the implications for a ticket holder. Your data will now be stored and unless you pay cash for any purchase this can link your season ticket to your credit/debit card. In effect MCFC will know all your buying habits.

You might think this sounds a bit like "Big Brother" no, not the shite awfull TV series but the novel, but using this software it is quite feasible that when you swipe your card there is Burger and chips with a pint waiting for you by the time you get to your seat based on your previous purchases.

City are facing a problem that pretty much all service based companies out there are facing now; the Big Data problem. Not just in the customer facing part but in their technical player analysis and recruitment, they have reams and reams and reams of data but no way of making any sense of it or using it in a way to improve their business.

This is a move in the right direction regarding utilising some of that data and turning it into information which somebody can use to better understand something.

I work for a Systems Integrator that has a whole business unit assigned to SAP and other large package based systems yet our internal implementation, shall we say, leaves much to be desired.. Cobbler's children... SAP HANA has a lot of focus at the moment and generally SAP generates a fair bit of revenue for us. Not my area though.
