Really...where elsewhere?

Dzeko or Ibra may not be Premiership proven but they are reasonable bets and you could get both for circa £60m - without helping the dippers financially - don't forget we already have Tevez and Ade - so we need to think carefully - wanting Torres is one thing - single handedly bailing out the scouse is another. Paying £100m for Torres will pile so much more pressure on to us (as a club) and in particular Mancini and you can see a scenario where Torres may take 3 or 4 months to find his fitness and form and the media will have a field day and probably unsettle us big time.

you can bet Chelsea wont pay 100 mill and neither should we..

Strange tactics from Liverpool (if of course the story is true) - they are pretty much saying he can go for £100m - so they are going to have more mass marches and picket lines (they do them so well) when he signs for us or Chelsea for £50m. Or maybe they know he wants out and the important story is them forcing him into a transfer request - they have obviously seen how Moyes covered himself in glory last season !!!!

Tbf the paper is prob chatting bollocks, nobody from Liverpool has come out in person and said nando can go for 100 mill. The official line his he's not for sale however behimd the scenes.

There is no way we should give the red dippers £100m - their whole squad is hardly worth that. Torres may be worth up to £50m not a penny more - if they want £70 or £100m - we should walk away - we can do better business elsewhere.

Really...where elsewhere?

Torres is not as good as David Villa who has just been bought for £35M.

Although a fully fit and on form Torres would be worth every penny of £70 Mil, I'm not sure we should really go above £50 Mil on current form although shirt sales etc would also come into it.

He will come with a high price tag whatever the situation is but at the moment it seems that Dzeko and Barotelli might be the better option.

I'd love Torres at City but he just seems to be injured all the time.

Thoughts?

But Villa refuses to leave Spain...

Torres is a more well rounded player than Villa. Quicker, stronger, can do more spectacular things. Villa is the predator and has that 6th sense in terms of being in the right place at the right time. Torres is also 3 years younger than Villa, so you have to factor that into the price. I think £50-60m sounds about right.

Tolmie begs to differ mate...he said he made some enquiries and silvas dad was in a meeting in spain. Apparently his dad was head of security at valencia and is still involved with the club in some capacity. Tolm said carrington was dead on that particular day.
