City, how different to the Glazers?

I would suggest that a tipping point ( ;-) ) will be reached for some of the fans who have replied on this thread.

The idea of Nectar style points may be anathema to some but I would get your head around it being something that is most definitely going to happen.

Without wanting to upset anyone you can also lay money on the 'Nectar' idea also branching out into other 'leisure' activities as well.

But there will also be another use for the points where you gain access to players, open days, training sessions at the new mini-stadium in the training complex.

Perhaps even some coaching for parents who align a youth team to City?

When it comes down to it the definition of a loyal fan is going to be different moving forward.

Tis the only way, the more you contribute the more valued a customer you are, doesn't matter whether spent in the shop or attending games pounds spent equal points and points means prizes. Just a shame that those who have a lot of money will be the ones getting the prizes :-(

Without doubt the people who watch games, live and on a regular basis will gain a chance at an allocation.

But the other side to this is building a brand and an inclusive feel across the world.

Imagine being a Blue who lives abroad who only gets a chance to watch a couple of games a year, but you still spend hundreds of pounds supporting City.

There surely needs to be recognition of that and a chance to get tickets for more games as well?

CDS a cute ploy my arse

This wasn't the first season and there was no indication when people committed that they would benefit in any way if we ever got to Wembley

Just a way for the loyal minority prepared to go to all the early round cup games to guarantee their seats

That loyalty has been rightly rewarded and yes of course others will now follow

As for the Glazer comparison that is laughable

Another negative post, T - but your observations this time are based on fact.

It's true that as a club becomes successful it gains new fans, new status, and therefore the ability to make more money.

HOWEVER, don't you think it's understandable that Abu Dabi want to start recovering at least some of the MASSIVE amounts of dosh they've invested in the club?

I'm not saying I like the trend, specifically that the die hards who have supported City through thin and thin might miss out on some of the high profile games in the coming years.

However I (and others lke me) have long accepted that the price of success - and god know we all deserve a bit by now - is that sometimes we might have to watch games on TV instead of being there.

Besides, making a comparison with the Glazers is quite frankly disrespectful toward our owners; they have done their level best to destroy Utd's position as one of the most lucrative in the world since the takeover!

What does everyone else think?

PS. I think it's widely accepted that the fiasco over tickets for the Cup Final is down to the FA moneygrabbers - they're the ones with little interest in the fans being there, and more in corporate income after all (not ADUG)..

Not quite sure why you feel the need to pigeon-hole me as someone who posts negatively.

Especially so, when there are plenty of posters who request positive news on transfer dealings.

Sheikh Mansour is a business man at the end of the day. Just as the Glazers are.

Difference is, our owners have deeper pockets and make positive strides towards bringing the closer to its fans.

Similarity is, they both want to make money, and lots of it.
Quite a good post actually no negativity about it!

it wasn't introduced this season though, this misnomer has been peddled lots on here recently

i've been in the cup scheme for three years and it has been going even longer than that
i didn't join for the points, i joined because it saved me £10 every time we had a cup home game, as i'm someone who goes to all home games
sometimes the booking fee was as much as my two youngest kids' tickets together so it made sense to join
the points are a bonus

^^^

This. It is annoying that it keeps getting spouted.

Ok it's been around for a while but what i was getting at was the promotion it took this season, a cup run we haven't seen for a while and one that will attract people to it next season ten fold.

-- Mon Apr 25, 2011 3:07 pm --

Your right they have been rightly rewarded and now that others have seen the benefits it'll hopefully attract others to come out of the woodwork for the earlier rounds.

My first season ticket was for the kippax in 1977 & was £ 6 lol You collected tokens & stuck em on a token sheet from the programmes-they were used to get cup tickets .That used 2 b fun queing fer tickets cos ud always meet someone who was a laff.Much quicker these days but less interaction with fellow blues...
