Been to each one and felt this was the worst by some distance.
The production/editing so was so badly done it was embarrassing. The videos were not in sync with what the presenters were talking about. The clips of goals etc hit the screen about 2/3 seconds into the clip so all you saw was the ball going in the net, not who shot until they played a replay. Really basic, amateur mistakes. It came across as unrehearsed and targeted at a much younger audience than previous years. I really enjoyed the previous two but unless it changes dramatically, I won't be going again and I don't think many will.
Prefer a comedian to host it, thought Mike and Natalie did a decent job but with Manford last year, he brought an adult humour to it so it was entertaining throughout, rather little dripfed attempts at entertainment like last night. Don't get me wrong, it's great City do this, but if you're going to do it, do it properly or not at all.
I also wouldn't serve alcohol in future. I don't see why people see City Live as a reason to get hammered but I was surrounded by people pissed up, barely taking any notice of what was happening, generally being a pissed up pain in the arse as people usually are after a few, more interested in talking shite, taking selfies and shouting random comments only they find amusing. If you wanna get pissed up, you're round the corner from Manchester's bars. I love a skinful like any other bloke but I don't see the attraction at an event like that. Had a couple of bottles and that was it. As anyone knows, when you're sober surrounded by pissed up people, it can be rather annoying.
Maybe I'm just a miserable bastard. (I'm not).
