City Matters thread

A mate of mine in Reddish blues had a City rep at a recent meeting. He was saying that the rep told him there is a big issue at City with season ticket holders non attendance with as much as 50% for some games….more than any other PL team. That’s staggering if true.

On the one hand we want to keep prices down but not be so low that some can afford to buy a season ticket and just go to a handful of games effectively hoarding. I don’t know if seat exchanges were factored in.

It’s third hand info so could be incorrect of course but might explain some of the emails.

If it’s true I wonder why….is it long standing season ticket holders who just can’t make it but don’t want to lose the season ticket they have had for decades?

I know City make more money from match day tickets but the club may also be concerned that the new generation are in some way blocked from buying one? I could be way off here. I had a season ticket for 25 years but not for the last 20. I liked having a book where you just tore the page out rather than having to have a smartphone!
Given the number of people on here moaning about being bumped to a flexi because they only usually go to 5/6/7 games a season on their normal ST I could well believe the 50% figure quoted. I'm astounded the number of people who purchase a regular ST and only attend that number of games, I understand some individuals will have specific circumstances as a one off in some seasons but that isn't the scenario I am reading about regularly. i.e I've moved miles away and can only afford transport 6 times a year, wtf have you bought a season ticket then?, I would give any money that those times they do manage it are Liverpool , Utd, Arsenal ect.

Yeah. While there is much City can do to improve ticketing they face some problems not of their own making it seems.

Had a ST for years, moved away, try to build a new life in new place, want to get back as much as I can but life gets in the way. First couple years I transferred it to mates or on here for FV. Club stopped it, so I sell on the exchange, if the club price it correctly / they make more £ than if I had attended, I don't lose out. Obviously that makes me less of a supporter than everyone else.

No it doesn't, but it does mean you don't need a season ticket.

Still not statement from City Matters Reps as a group or as individuals, even though they have been elected by the fans, and represent the fans at the City Matters meetings with the club.

It's very strange that they haven't issued a statement about this very serious matter, I wonder why?

A lot of people share Season Tickets, and always have done. It’s always been a big way to have a ST at City.

Over the years I’ve known a few families and groups of mates who share a few STs amongst a group. There’s always someone in the seats, they’re never empty, but not necessarily the ST holder, they just transfer them to their mate/Brother/Father quite a few times through a season.

We’ve had Danny Wilson as a guest at our Supporters Club a couple of times. Getting bums on seats is certainly an issue for the club and, on his first visit, the non attendance figures he quoted surprised everyone. Sharing season tickets seems to be a bit of a no-no for the club. If they’re arguing that it’s because they need to be able to identify who’s actually attending then, in this technological world, it can’t be too hard to create a trackable ‘shared’ season card. That’s got to help some supporters afford to attend regularly and also help to fill the seat.

Good to see CM Chair Lee Broadstock interviewed at the Test Event last night. He made the point that CM has been talking to the club about ticket prices and ticket transfer policy, and that the club has listened.

City Matters is not just a "box-ticking exercise" as some on here who have no idea what actually happens claim. It can achieve positive outcomes for us fans. Sometimes takes a while for change to happen mind you, but the club can often see we were talking sense and had better ideas than they had.

I hope he’s right, but these £56 tickets we’re not selling for the unveiling of the new North Stand in what could very well be Pep’s last game suggests they haven’t listened at all.

Haven’t about 5,000 of them already sold. Part of the issue is that some fans are sticking their tickets on the exchange cos we can’t win the League. There have been more tickets to sell than the 7,000 extras.

That said, I would have preferred the ticket price to be close to £40 than the actual £51.

If you look at the planner there are hardly any resale tickets anywhere. There are thousands unsold in NSL2. I agree with you about too much use of the exchange generally but on this occasion it’s not to do with that in my opinion.

Grossly overpriced again.

The ticket prices are a joke for essentially a meaningless game. Why not make them £30 like when the away fans don’t turn up

Very true, but sharing STs has always been against the terms and conditions of having an ST. The difference is that the club now has an easy way to track attendances.
I'm still of the opinion that the club should have scrapped the attendance requirement as soon as it became obvious there wasn't a huge demand for tickets for the vast majority of PL games and therefore we would struggle to sell out an additional 6-7k seats.

That should be a 12 month ban as it's clear they don't actually support the team.
