Cracking player, but where do we play him?

Opposite wing to AJ (interchangeable) if Bellamy leaves?

Could work, but I like the lads engine....the box to box midfielder we have been lacking of late? Hows about;

------------------Joe
Boateng-----VK-----JL------Bridge?!?!?!
----------------Nige
Johnno/SWP-----Milner----Di Maria (yeah baby ;)
--------------Tevez
-----------------Ade/Torres

A tidy team if ever I saw one :D

lol one villa fan estimates him at 35-40 million, personally i reckon 20 million is 4 million too much but when you can make that sort of money by having a rummage down the couch then meh.

do you reckon they'd be daft enough to take RSC plus cash? which to make up the 20 million would be RSC + £19,999,999.90.... tbh

-- Tue May 18, 2010 12:02 am --

also i really really really don't want di maria he'll flop faster than jo brands husband

They only paid £12 million for him , and in my opinion his value hasn't trebled since being there .......

i notice he's from Leeds , and played for their academy ....... i'll bet they wished they'd hung on to him now!

Great little player that i would love here but for £20m they are taking the piss. Should be no more than £15m.

Imagine if it goes to £24m, that would of been just short of £50m spent on Lescott and Milner, whilst two very good players that is just ridiculous.

I'm really not arsed, we have money, fuck it they can have £30 million.

I really can't see 35 to 40m, I'm with you I think half that would be closer to the mark.

Villa fan here.....

If you are going to buy him (obviously hope you don't) he works best quite easily from central areas. He's got a great footballing brain, can score goals aswell as very clever passes. He's got a terrific engine and can also play a number of positions. I think his creative side of his game is often not seen at Villa, our midfield Young, Downing, Petrov, Milner are all very clever players but our strikers, all of them really, well aren't the brightest or have the greatest movement which means often there isn't a little creative ball on. However there have been 5/6 passes, he's made for goals with a clever 10/15 yard pass through a defence to open them up so in a team with players such as Tevez, he'd probably grow even more as a player.

Saying that, he's a dedicated player who loves his football, he moved here because of our stability and the fact he loves to play, he doesn't have an agent so money I don't think is top of his list of wants. I don't think he will leave. O'Neill would want I'd say £28+ million just like we did for Ashley Young last year, so I can't see it happening. That said, me personally, I wouldn't sell for £30 million cash. However say Richards/Onouha and Ireland + £10-15 Million, i'd take that. A straight forward replacement in Ireland would be very important if there is a deal in my opinion.

Thanks.

Villa will expect a lot more than £3 million profit from a player they have turned into an England international and the Young player of the year.

They will use the Lescott deal as a precedent and will set the price accordingly. Also, you know what O'Neill is like when he digs his heels in like he did with Barry and Liverpool. If we don't stump up what he wants we could be here all summer.

£20 million at least though and i reckon O'Neill could fancy Nedum, Richards, Ireland or SWP as part of the deal. I could see see any of them at Villa tbh.

By the way, Blue Moon people who are reading this thread right now.....can post this:

You will need more than £20 million for Milner, our most influential player and the current golden boy. Last year we scared teams away with a price tag of £30 million and I'm sure the same if not more will be on Milner. We are not looking to sell our best players and I really don't think we will this summer either.
