City now 9th Ranked by UEFA

Hi mate.I`m going by this mornings MEN and it does state over a 5 year period but does come from UEFA`s listings.Sorry but the article doesn`t actually show the full list of positions but it will probably be on UEFA`s website.

Cheers. I looked at the UEFA listing to see what it was.

The coefficients are worked out on a rolling 5 year basis. As the season ended, at the start of July (ish), it is just pushed from 2013-17 to 2014-18, and that's dropped Chelsea and Arsenal down the listing.

At the end of 2013-17, Chelsea, Arsenal and City were 10th, 11th and 12th. Our 2013 performance was noticeably worse than either of theirs, so they lost more points when moving a year on.

Hope that makes sense.

Since the top pot of CL seeds are now league winners, it doesn't really make much difference as long as you're in the first 16 or so* - win the PL or CL and be in Pot 1; don't win the PL or CL and be in Pot 2.

*I say 16 or so, as at least one of the pot 1 seeds is likely to have a coeff lower than City, and there's a good chance that more than one of the top 16 will miss out on the CL completely. [edited as I went the wrong way with some of it]

Still nice though, and difficult for the press not to point out.

More concerning is that the gap between Italy and England is tiny, and a crap season could see the 4th CL place go.

Ok cool. We have been consistent though and hopefully we'll have better seedings.

I ain't even assed about the CL to be honest, only wanna win it for some ammo to keep The history makers silent

This is my feeling.
Win the CL once to have done it.
I'd take 3 or 4 PLs ahead of the CL though.

You only want to win the Champions League to stick it to Utd?
I know, it's sad.

But the amount of vitriol I have heard emitting from those vermins mouths over the years about their CL successes would make it all the more sweet to just add it to the notch of won trophies.

They act like it's some exclusive club in winning the CL.
Well, let's win it.

For club profile it's also a bonus, but for me I'd rather we win the PL every season as it's more of a footballing test.

I was under the impression that from next season 18/19 England is guaranteed 4 spots?

Good point.
I have a feeling that that is still to be ratified finally, but otherwise, yes. I sit corrected. That's probably why England were as much in favour of the change as Italy, and even Germany are only a little ahead of England!

[Edit: may be amended with the new UEFA bloke. of course, Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea all get more ranking points and cash out of the changes too, so England will definitely vote in favour!]
