City owner and council to build 6,000 new homes in £1bn deal

Re: City owner and council to build 6,000 new homes in £1bn

The projected income at 800 a month rent for 6000 houses ove a year about 56.5M. Even if that isn't all profit and we only take half still a hell of a sum of money. Might not count on MCFC books but those people in those house might be tempted to use the facilities on the collar site (when built) and that money would be ours. Happy fucking days.

This is ADUG, not City.

The benefit to City will be very marginal in terms of visitor revenues from an expanded local population. Has a PR benefit too.

I'm not that bothered how involved city are with this, even if it's only by association with adug, It's great news for Manchester!

6000 homes = full stadium when full developed!

My only problem with this is what happens to the people of them areas when all this happens. I doubt any of them will be able to afford it. How much of will be council houses to replace the ones that are there currently? Good news for manchester in general but for the people of that area currently not great news.

The first 3 sites are in ancoats. On jersey street, blossom street and George Leigh street. Where express motors used to be. For those that don't know it - the site of the old smith arms.

How long will it take to build them?

It is if you own your house. Prices in the area will rocket as the area becomes more affluent

Does anybody have an inkling as to how far these plans are advanced? As we've seen with ADUG so far, these projects tend to be nigh on fully developed before any public announcements are peppered out.
In other words, are we likely to see designs soon? Quite intrigued as the original New Islington plans were pretty out there/Amsterdamesque...

They've been quoted as starting the first phase of 600+ homes next year. So the total of 6000+ will probably be over a 10 year period.
