City players you liked & No-one else did..

Paul Moulden, dont know if he has been mentioned but I honestly thought he would go on to play for england,
scored a load of goals on his way into the first team (I was at villa when I think he made his debut) but things just didnt work out & I dont know why, although I remember there were rumours at the time he was "going out" with Mel Machins daughter?
Also Clive Allen, one of the best natural strikers I have seen in a city shirt yet peter reid wouldnt play him & alledgedly had him training with the youth team at one point.

Danny Mills
Lee Croft
Hatem Trebelsi (and he scored against Man U :D)
Christian Negouai
Glenn Whealan
Kiki Musampa
Kevin Ellegaard
Niclas Jensen

What was the general opinion of Darren Huckerby? I thought he was class for us. He was effectively our Bellamy at the time. He was electric in our Division 1 promotion season under Keegan in particular. Maybe his name doesn't belong in this thread, maybe most people rated him, i have no idea. Just throwing his name out there.

I always liked Huckerby I have no idea what the general consensus on him was though.

I liked Mpenza, kept us up and then did well for Sven too. Bianchi I thought got a massive amount of unfair stick.

I also liked Beasley.

Kevin Bond

Crowd didn't like him because their favourite player Nicky reid was replaced by the managers son.

Thank god no-one has said............................................

Got a lot of unfair stick because he was picked over Kinkladze by Royle in the dogs of war team
thought he did a good job for us in the dark days........

Kevin Bond was a donkey remember Gay Meadow away in the cup? Shrewsbury had sussed him and played the ball through the middle (past KB) twice for thier goals!!

P.S Paul Moulden would have been suberb I think he had two broken legs which cut his career short he could score for fun!!

Been mentioned once or twice but worth another shout - Mark Ward.

Disliked because he effectively replaced crowd darling Ian Bishop but I thought Ward was a better player who scored some vital goals for us and always looked lively and inventive.

Remember tits out jackie giving him dogs abuse down by the Maine Road tunnel before the fella had even kicked a ball for us.

Kevin Bond was in no way a donkey,he just replaced that blue arsed fly Nicky Reid and copped the abuse in the kippax,I thought was reserved for Power and Ged Keegan.
My own pick would have to be Colin Barrett and Joe Corrigan,(before he laid off the pies)

Big Mals second spell at City !!
We paid Palace a fortune for an unknown 16 year old and for me he still scored the best goal in the replay FA Cup Final, far better than the Argi.
Anybody else, like me remember the superp talent of :

STEVE MACKENZIE

Mark Ward

Yeah, I liked Sommeil a lot. He seemed to attract a lot of stick because of a few bad games in the 2003-04 season, but people all too easily forgot how well he did for us in the second half of the 2002-03 season after he signed for us. His best game for me - and I've said this numerous times - was in that 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield. While Anelka and Schmeichel grabbed all the headlines for the winning goal and arguably the best save I've ever witnessed in my life respectively, Sommeil kept Michael Owen in his back pocket all afternoon with a fantastic performance.

I certainly do a great player,

Steve used to train a group of us kids at the Platt Lane complex, a top man and even used to get a lift home in his Saab (remember when the club was sponsored by them) along Wilmslow Rd to Withington.

He scored in the Derby at the Platt Lane end and then had to change his boot which got ripped during the game, gave it me as a souvenir. Lost it somewhere along the line probably thrown out for being old and ripped.

Talking of wank players, remember Ged Keegan, I remember a supporter next to me in the Kippax telling him he had the speed of a pregnant tortoise when he got within shouting distance, bloody funny, I laughed so much!
