City Relegating Teams.

Re: City Relegating Teams.

So if we win on Sunday Wolves are mathematically down? I didn't know that. It feels a bit crap knowing that our joy will come at the cost of their heartache. I have no particular love for Wolves over than respect for a great old club but those of you who have followed the Blues as long as i have know just how crap relegation feels so if it happens i won't revel in it that's for sure.

But as others have rightly said we would just be the finishing blow to what has seemed rather inevitable for a few months now. If they had kept McCarthy i believe he would have kept them up.

Re: City Relegating Teams.

I started watching City in the mid 60's and we seemed to relegate teams year after year. Even now, I always look at the last few games of the season to see who we will be sending down. QPR anyone?

I can't remember all the teams we have relegated, but during the 70's and 80's I recall it being an annual thing.

It hasn't happened for a few years now, but we did send a lot of teams down.

If we beat them, then QPR need to win as well to officially relegate Wolves, I think.
i think a qpr draw would do it, if we beat wolves.

They wouldn't be mathematically relegated though, but would be as good as gone.

Best of the lot the rags!Although other results meant they would have gone down anyway we made sure with a 1-0 win!

What year was the back heel ?

1974.

What a great day that was!

Technically City did not relegate United as they would have gone down regardless of the result at Old Trafford that day.

But it was fun!

That result was the sixth League win for City in seven visits to Old Trafford. The other was a draw!

beat Sunderland 3-2 to send em down, think it was the week after we sent Derby down

Correct, not sure if it was the week after, but certainly our last two home games of the season

Attendance was 39k that day I think Sunderland brought about 9k they where everywhere in the ground.

We won't "relegate" Wolves on Sunday even if we win, they'll have done the job themselves taking just 2 points out of the last 30 available, sacking McCarthy was an idiotic decision.

Not only sacking McCarthy but replacing him with Terry Connor was even worse.

I'm sure we relegated Sheffield Wednesday in very early seventies at hillsborough, Ian bowyer headed the winner 5 mins from time, someone might be able to recollect better than me.

Re: City Relegating Teams.

Didn't we send Sunderland and Derby down in our last two games of the season in about 91 or 92?

Sland brought the best away following I've ever seen and the Derby game was the final game of the season when Coton was sent off and Quinn saved Sanders' penalty.
