Didn't we send Barnsley down on the same day we clinched the title in KK's promotion season?

No, we beat Wolves away to clinch the title after us being beaten again by Stockport midweek

We won't "relegate" Wolves on Sunday even if we win, they'll have done the job themselves taking just 2 points out of the last 30 available, sacking McCarthy was an idiotic decision.

Not only sacking McCarthy but replacing him with Terry Connor was even worse.

Clearly Terry Connor is a nice guy and i have alot of respect for him a s a coach but he is in no way a manager

He was saying we beat Derby county 2-1 when Quinn went in goal that result relegated them, that was my first ever City match

Remember this game like it was yesterday. my first game at maine road with my old man. love it when coton throws his gloves at the ref and a great save from the mulleted saunders.

We didn't win the title that day, not mathematically anyway. It was the day we won the title in that there was no looking back after beating our nearest rivals but we actually won the league the day we hammered Barnsley 5-1.

We were actually promoted without kicking a ball on the Friday night, when Wolves were beaten by a Steve Claridge goal for Millwall.
I remember us relegating two teams in consecutive weeks at Maine Road, one being Neil Warnock's Notts County, and someone else I've forgotten the week before. It sticks in my memory because Neil Pointon scored a very rare goal for City. Fitzroy Simpson scored as well, I think, and Adie Mike was playing up front.

Remember big Niall caught the corner after the pen. A great back up keeper.

As a coach I hear he is well thought of but I just don't see how he would've been able to turn it around. The step up from coach to Manager is huge, your not just running training sessions now. They needed to bring someone fresh in to 'liven' things up a bit. Good luck to him though they all need to start somewhere

Re: City Relegating Teams.

Malcolm Macdonald was sacked after the 10-1. Seemed to remember York having a fair few fans in the Main stand. Was that when we gave away fans the section under the police control box?

Re: City Relegating Teams.

did relegate both Derby & Sunderland at home in 90/91, Notts County were relegated at Maine Road a year later, sent Stoke down with ourselves in 97/98,York a year later then Watford in 06/07 Souness did get sacked after losing 3-0 at COMS in 05/06 remember Wigan sacking Ray Mathias after we beat them in the 98/99 play offs not 100% but think Gillingham also sacked Pulis too after the Wembley game
