City removing seats

I have nothing but praise for Danny Wilson. When I was booted out of the North Stand, for the rebranding as "Family Stand", I wrote to the Club and said no way did I want the equivalent lower tier seat in the South Stand as I would probably have to stand up for most of the game. Danny rang me and said he would sort something out for me, which he did, and I ended up in block 211 a few seats along from our very own 'Bill'. Some great people there and I love the view, unfortunately Bill for personal reasons is no longer there but I can assure him that he is not forgotten.
I think (based on what I’ve read on here) Danny was doing a lot of good stuff for fans back then. That seems to have gone over time with more pressures of work etc but that’s natural in life.

Btw when I was kicked out of the North Stand and then 206, I was able to sort my new seat with the ticket office who I have always found pretty helpful.

If Covid restrictions on fans has shown us/them anything, is how important fans are to the games.
Fans not being there has affected every aspect of the game.
Players hate it. Viewers are just not feeling the passion that thousands of attending fans generate.

I understand some posters here stating that we have to pay for these expensive players somehow.
However we also have to resist some changes, if only to remind the bean counters of our needs and actual value to the game.
Bean counters have one objective. That is to maximise profits.
Many don't take a long term view because that is not what they are being paid to do. So that leaves the owners and guardians/fans of the club to worry about that.

You only need to look at the Rags and sponsorship on memorials for people who have died to see how you can go too far etc....

Those seats behind the goal must have had a shocking view. Having had the pleasure of sitting for 3 years in row 4 of the North Stand I know what I'm talking about.

I think fans on here said that when they were being introduced. I think the phase 'money grabbing' was banded about also!

And before anyone says anything, I've had the experience of having my seat taken away when the Family Stand was extended into the North Stand Lower.

There is clearly capacity to relocate the fans from these seats.
I used to dread the early rounds of the cups as the invevitable email used to arrive saying they were closing CBL3 and we're fucking you over to wherever. Used to get put immediatley below on Level 2 for the same price (before the squishy seats appeared) and then immediately opposite on EL3 - opposite spirals so by the time yer've got to the top yer wandering around like one of those fans who played that spinning game at HT. And a couple of times on L1. I went on there a couple of times for kids and women's games and one international. If yer at the back it's like being buried alive, block of concrete a few feet above yer 'ead, and if yer at the front yer can see fuck all of the pattern of the game or the options available to players. If they told me that I had to spend a season down there it'd be fuck off time.

How else do people expect the club to afford world class players? The people moaning about this will be the same people moaning about us signing sub standard players.

the astronomical amounts of money we already make from tv revenue? Advertising? Sponsorship deals? Our billionaire owner?

we could actually reduce advertising and still make money.

so many people run with the supposition - Let’s get the facts before slagging off the club. Those front seats were crap - you got soaked & had a poor view. So, it might be that the fans affected will have better seats for the same price.
But hey - let’s be negative eh

for one season and then after that the price would go up. The reason people moved to those front seats is because they were a lot cheaper.

other then ss3, which is nigh on impossible to get a season ticket in the rest of the ground is very expensive.

I was originally front row in the north stand , got booted when it became the family stand. Moved round to the east stand, again on the front row. Then they moved me for building work to add the extra seats in for 1 season. Over all this my season ticket had gone up from an initial 385 quid to nearly 600. When they put the new seats in they said i could stay where i was for 680 or if i wanted one of the new seats it would be 380, on a financial basis that made it very affordable for me so thats one of the reasons i chose one of those seats. Now im moving again with 1 years grace at my current outlay of 400 quid a season. to stay even in the same block after that it goes up to at least 700. people say those seats are shit, well thats their opinion but it got me in the ground at a price i could afford so i would rather be there than not. I have a lot of thinking to do about how i want to continue going or not , not just because of this but no doubt city will find a way to keep me going like they always do. Ive been going since 1977 and going to the football should never be this much of a pain in the ass.

I kind of liked how those extra seats at the front brought the fans closer to the pitch. It might only have been 3 rows but when you watch older footage before they were put in, the stand feels much further away from the action.

Except that they're not being replaced, they're being relocated to (much) better seats. There'll be 1,000 less day trippers which people moan about anyway. Win win surely
Who says there will be less day trippers? If they decrease the season tickets by the same amount there will be no change. They may end up with better seats but they will be moving away from Friends and family and having to pay a premium in most cases of 100% extra from the season after next for the privilege.

I'm sure those being moved don't think it's win win.
