CITY: SHOWSEC, Atmosphere, & Blatant Bullying.

The Khaldoon video speech alwasys sticks out in my mind.

I can't remember it word for word, or from which video it was, because there have been so many, but he promised(in my words) to protect the club and the fans, and to uphold everything the the club had previously stood for. It hasn't turned out like that. Sorry Khaldoon, it hasn't.

If anyone remembers the speech/video and can repost it, I'd be grateful. Think it was one if the first one's. Plenty of references to Sheikh Mansour in it.
Here's a link to an interview he did, defending our spending after Platini had singled us out.

Right at the end he says: “I appreciate the argument about having so much money. The way I answer it is: Yes, this is a club, but it is a business too, and in business, you are there to compete. And we are striving to build the club the right way, with respect for its heritage, and the fans.”

Not really doing that at the moment are they?

Also I've found Sheikh Mansour's original open letter to the fans, written at the time of the takeover. http://m.arabianbusiness.com/sheikh-mansour-s-letter-man-city-fans-in-full-42776.html

The last paragraph states: "As part of that, we will absolutely spend time listening to you the fans about what you think about the future of the club. We are very aware that without you there would not be a club to buy, and your voice will be heard by the organisation at the highest level."

Good stuff pb.

I'm all for nobheads and such like being taken out etc but the level of non-listening is getting worse and worse.

I like a good shout/swear etc and as a 50 odd year old being in what seems the target group in the target area fear my days are numbered. Indeed I've stated acting my age sometimes ;)

If I do ever get turfed, after being a seasoncard holder almost every season since 1970, that'll be it for me.

If fans want to sit and 'knit' there's plenty of blocks for that, football is about passion, well it is to me.

Take away my passion, take away my enjoyment.

Hes probably in fairness is blissfully unaware of how fans are feeling in all this, who can you contact these days to at least air our concerns?

Good digging PB. +1

Yes, I doubt very much Sheikh Mansour get's to hear about the simmering discontent on the terraces, unless he reads BM.

The 1894 Group are currently looking for comments from fans about stewarding/atmosphere and so on. I'd email the1894group@yahoo.co.uk so these can be collated and anyone in an OSC bring it up in branch meetings. I love the club as we all do, but there seems to be disconnect between club and fans especially with regards to the t**ts at Showsec if we all voice our concerns surely the club needs to do something.

Is it fair to say Cook was more of a lad than Soriano?

Ha, definitely.

Not trying to excuse any one who feels slighted when they met Soriano, but it's kind of the nature of the job. I also think both him and Begiristain came from a culture where they were literally answerable to the supporters on an almost daily basis at Barcelona due to the ownership structure of Spanish clubs. I've had the impression from the moment they came in that one of the reasons that they like working at City is because they don't have to deal with that. It's basically someone else's remit. They just do what they do and answer to the owners.

I've worked for a major multi national corporation and over a three year period we had two different CEO's. The first one was about as unlikeable as you could get, but was fucking immense at his job. He now runs that company worldwide out of New York. The next one after him was an absolutely lovely man to me, a season ticket holder at City, and always had time for me. Last I heard he'd gone into hiding due to financial irregularities during his tenure at the company.

Whenever I read this Cook/Soriano discussion I can't help but feel it's all a bit contrived. Like in reality, whether it's Ric or JRB or a season ticket holder with a gripe. You're rarely going to be dealing with the guy who runs the entire club over these things - and just because Cook went out of his way to do it at times that certainly doesn't make it the norm nor should it be their priority. They should run the club well, not glad hand with us lot well. And we should stick to judging the club based on how it's developing overall.

None of this btw has anything to do with Showsec being dickheads. You may want to argue that because Soriano runs the club it's ultimately his job, but fairly sure that there's a middle manager who's not doing his job properly which is causing these issues.

Complainng on this forum is going to do no good. People affected need to write to the relevant people at the club and those that sympathise with them need to write to express solidarity with the fans in 109 and their concerns about the way the situation is being handled. To give up long held season tickets without even this small effort seems a bit weak willed.

Clearly standing is tolerated in large parts of the ground and after we received a letter asking is whether we minded standing in the block a couple of years ago (?) this all quietened down. It ha obviously restarted in recent weeks and it seems that there's been a change of policy somewhere at the club.

One thing we could do here is come up with a list of people at the club that could be sent letters expressing concern, from the heads of stewarding, safety, policing, security to the CEO and chairman and including supporters groups like FSF, OCS and 1894.

Is there anyone that stands out as an appropriate person to draw up a letter to which we can all be signatories?

I don't have a gripe, mate. It was an observation. I don't for one minute think he's like that all of the time. It's just the way he came across on that (one) ocassion.

Like I've stated, it was at the end of the event, so he'd probably had enough by then and wanted to get back to his other jobs.

Saying that. I deal with people, members, and traders on a daily basis. I sell millions of pounds worth of goods a year, and I deal with the above people on a one to one basis a lot of the time. Regardless of how I feel and what personal mood I'm in, I'm always polite, curtious, attentive, etc, all of the time. It's part off my job. Yes I have my off day's like everyone doe's, but when I meet anyone, that's put to one side.

Perhaps I'm doing Soriano a disservice, and under that Conservative Catalonian appearance, their is a very likeable, nice, and approachable person, who is also very good at his job.

Saying that, I still feel he should open up to the fans a bit more. I'd like to get to know more about our CEO. I'd like him to also look at and review the way the club engages with the fans. And I'm not talking about the 'matchday experience'. I think we can all agree that needs improving, going forward.
