City: the Current Premier League Table

We need to just worry about ourselves and put a run of winning games together, forget about the results of other clubs especially the scum, we are in danger of letting Arsenal get ahead while the perceived main threats are having a bad season.

Exactly. This.

Unlike some on here i'm not expecting Arsenal to fade this time , i think they'll maintain a strong challenge ...... they have amassed some good players , are winning games , and Wenger appears happy again .

They look to have real direction to their play , and i'm sure that they will provide a big threat to the other teams at the top.

I think Arsenal are the real wildcard. Especially now they've got imo the best player in the league in Ozil (probably worth 20-25 assists a season alone).

Also Spurs are stronger than ever and in Lloris - Vertonghen - Paulinho, Dembele - Eriksen - Soldado have arguably the best spine in the league after us. Also AVB is a fantastic manager, settled and backed by Levy with a massive point to prove over Jose.

I don't think our players can recover their away issues enough to dominate nor will our cavalier tactics really work towards all the scrappy one nils you need to really crush the league though.

My biggest worry though is Jose settles in properly, sells his high value outcasts - Mata and Luiz - and brings in someone like Falcao.

I hope you're right and we get Mata. That'd be nice

Yes I agree Arsenal have made a good start . But will Arsenal still be top in January ? . We will have a better idea in December where the title might be going . If I was to bet on any team to win it now it would be Chelsea .

Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool are all in the mix now, and we shouldn't underestimate any of them.

Arsenal usually have a spell with loads of injuries, well there having it now and still winning games, Wenger now knows he has to spend money to bring in quality players.

Spurs now have a squad, selling Bale for ridiculous money was a good move with the quality players they have bought. They will get better when the players all get acclimatised to the Premier League.

Liverpool are steadily improving under Rodgers, and now have two decent strikers, if they are around the top of the table, then I'm sure money will be made available to strengthen again in January. Top four has to be a target for them now.

We have the best squad on paper, but the players are over confident in games against "weaker" opposition, hopefully Pellegrini can cure them of this fault and we'll start winning away fro home too.

Chelsea don't look as strong this season, Lukaku going on loan was a massive cock-up, he was what they really needed up front, and the defence Mourinho prefers is ageing.

Utd are turning slowly into Everton, they appear to be losing their grip over the referees they had and this will cost them 20 points this season, coupled with poor tactics, and teams realising they no longer have to roll over against them, they may even get a game at Sunderland too !

As long as the gap from the top to us doesn't increase then we should be alright. We have to do a more professional job against the poorer teams in the league, and also be at our best against the other "top six" clubs mentioned above. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs have all beaten us over the past couple of seasons, and none of them will be easy games, but if we can win most of them and pick up our away form then the title could be ours again.

What this shows me looking at the top 3 spots of the table is stability. Wenger, Rodgers and AVB have been with their clubs for a while, I don't think Everton will be where they are forever but even with them they didn't make drastic changes to the squad. Chelsea brought back a familiar face who still has 3 key veterans who are still there from his last go around.

Where I'm getting at is that although it we've lost 2 early games to teams we should be beating, we are dealing with a completely new manager who's a virgin to this league in addition to bringing in 5 new players who are serious upgrades and will prove vital to our campaign this season. It's going to take more than 6 games to click on all cylinders esp with some of them dealing with nagging injuries like Jovetic in the beginning and Demichelis.

The season isn't going to get any easier but I think even with the bad luck we saw against Villa, we are still very much in stride, and will play much better football moving forward. Our players aren't all doom and gloom and our manager certainly isn't unlike the coach at the swamp.

It's still very early and no title was won in September and we will be back on top soon enough this season starting with Everton at home!!

Table only really starts taking shape around 15 games in. I would still bet that the top three will be us, Chelsea and United in whatever order although the other big three do look impressive and I think Arsenal have won 17 in 21 games so who knows. Too early to say yet though.
