City: the Current Premier League Table

The next 3 games are huge now for us.

Everton h
West Ham A
Chelsea A

Arsenal next 3

West Brom - A
Norwich - H
Palace - A

Spurs have West Ham, Villa and Hull - 2 at home

Now you would have to expect Arsenal will pick up a minimum of 6 points there, more likely 7 and not totally out of the question 9.

I think we need to be looking at 6/7 to stay in touching distance.

We cannot afford to go 10 points behind a team as good as Arsenal at this stage of the season.

It feels odd to look at the goals against column with City and it be so high in comparison to others. We have conceded a lot of goals although we havent conceded many chances. The other teams are being prolific and clinical and we are being punished for mistakes every time. This happened at the beginning of last season too but we were still on the right side of things. Need to improve defensively, we have managed 4 goals away from home in 3 games and should have collected at least 5 points from those games. This season will be different and games amongst the top sides will be vital. It disappoints me that we beat the rags and follow it up with an away defeat in a game we should win. The rags lost too yes, but we can ignore them for now, looking at the top of the table we should be sat in 2nd having gained points on the rags, spuds and chavs.

Those who think united are going to challenge are in for a disappointment, they're already 8 points behind Arsenal after just 6 games, and after the derby had 6 "easy" games to come, but its now 5 and they haven't got a point yet. They also have Moyes, rumours of fall outs within the playing squad, have shipped out all the good coaching staff, replaced them with inferior versions, and have a pretty average squad away from Van Persie, and Rooney. They might scrape 4th, but I'm having my doubts about that now, I don't they can afford to lose many more this early, and even draws will suck the confidence out of them.

We started poorly (ignoring Newcastle to a degree, who were awful, and a man short, and I didn't think we were that great in all honesty), but since Stoke we've been playing some very good football, and scoring pretty freely. Yes Saturday was a setback, but I don't think much should be read into it, other than we didn't take our chances in the first half, and made a couple of silly errors in the second half. The signs are there that we will be a very good side, once we settle down, and we'll certainly be up there, though we do need to pick up the results away from home quickly (and keep them up at home obviously), but I'm confident we'll challenge until near the end, we might not win it, but I don't think we'll be far away.

Arsenal after a poor start have picked up, and will certainly challenge, Spurs won't be far away either, their squad looks good to me, and Chelsea will be in the top 3 mix, even Liverpool and Everton might make things tight too, but I don't think they have quite enough, especially Everton, but everyone of those 6 are capable of taking points off each other, its crucial that we win these bigger games, they make up nearly 1/3 of the games in a season, or at least don't lose them, they will be the key to whoever wins it eventually.

Cant see Arsenal maintaining a challenge but they've given themselves every chance of top 4 spot again.

Despite their results for 2013 its a different type of challenge winning games under the pressure if a title race. They're yet to face that challenge yet.

We all need to remember that pool have only the F.A cup and league to go for now.
with 3 relatively easy games coming up they will still be a force this season.

we need to buck our ideas up and start to win ugly when required, yes villa was a "how the fuck did that happen" game
but we need to put that one behind us.

we have injuries also, losing Kompany early on didn't help and with Nasty out also were a little exposed. Silva and Augero out
now but still should have enough cover to deal with this.

so now we have Everton at home which if we dont defend in a professional manner Lukuka will punish us.

I posted this Premier League form guide elsewhere; makes for interesting reading:

Why do people think that arsenal are gonna have such a massive drop in form that their garanteed to below us in the end. as much as i hate to say arsenal do one that we havent done in awhile which is beat the lower teams consistently, the only thing that i think will stop is the "big" teams but they mite sursprise a few this year. Someone has to sort out our players attitude coz we cant keep blaming new tactics and new manager, we seem to have the same problem as last year being that in the big matches we are amazing but loose interest in the small ones. that the reason why pellegrini was brought in to motivate the players, nd i have yet to see any difference. hopefuuly i'm proven completly wrong.

I see the openness of the league as something that will continue into the new year. I don't see anyone (us included) running away with the league ... if anything I'd say that I can envisage a situation whereby come the end of January there's still six teams fighting for the title. It's hard to say that Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool can't win the league because those three clubs are in a state of relative stability compared to City/Chelsea/United.

I've been saying since the end of the transfer window but for me this will be the most competitive PL season ever due to the quality outside the so called top 4. Very exciting ...

I'm a bit concerned about the next few games. Other teams have a much easier run than us and, given our away form (and general record against Everton) I think we might struggle to stay in touch at the top.

Much as it pains me to say it, now is the time to lump money on a rags title win.

They're 7-1: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/winner" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.oddschecker.com/football/eng ... gue/winner</a>

And the bastards are still getting help from referees: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23999569" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23999569</a>

They will be first or second this season mark my words...
